Knowing Max was coming home soon, Liz sat on the couch eagerly waiting for him. This was the first time she'd been out of her room in days, having only come out because the danger was gone. She hadn't left the apartment yet to go back to work but this was progress. She tried to do some busy work on the computer but she really couldn't focus on it. Of course, 'Mrs Potter's Lullabry' was playing in the background because it was the only thing keeping her from having a breakdown at that point. Maria was right, she had to talk to Max. Maybe then she would feel better and be able to function like a normal human being again.

As soon as the door opened, she closed her laptop and stood up, turning towards him. "I'm sorry I made you panic" She started as she walked towards him to help him with the food he'd gotten. "And I'm sorry I've been avoiding you. It wasn't fair to you" She told him as she grabbed a bag from him, leaning up to give him a kiss on the lips as she did.

Max had been worried, it was true. Very worried. He was glad when Liz had said that she wasn't physically injured, but he still worried about her mental well-being. And of course, every time she got upset he was still insecure enough to fear that she'd decided she didn't want anything to do with him.

This didn't feel like that, at least.

He wrapped her in his arms as soon as the food was out of his hands, and kissed her back. At least she didn't seem too upset with him.

"It's okay. It's okay. You're okay, I'm okay, so whatever it is, we can work this out."

She nodded her head in agreement to that, wanting to work it out with him. She wasn't going to run because she was scared like she had with every other relationship in the past ten years. She was committed to this, to him, and she was going to get through this with his help. Moving the food to one hand, she reached out to take his hand with her other one, guiding them into the living room area. Putting the food that she intended to get to later on the coffee table, she sat down and turned towards him as he joined her.

"Whatever it was the entity brought here ... it really messed with me. I'd been doing so good working through all of my issues and getting comfortable in our life together and that thing just wrecked all of the progress I've made" She kept ahold of his hand as she talked, her other hand coming up to run over her face. "My abandonment issues are out in full force and now I have this irrational fear that you're going to leave me" She dropped her hand back down to her lap and shook her head. "That's why I've been avoiding you. I didn't want to screw this up so it was easier to stay away while I tried to work this out myself. Maria made me realize I should talk to you though so ... here I am"

Max squeezed her hand, giving her a sad smile. The fear monsters - or whatever they were - had been cruel, and he understood that they'd messed up a lot of people. He was pretty sure that they'd messed up Michael, too, even if he wouldn't talk about it. He just hoped that he was talking about it with someone.

"First of all," he said gently, "I'm never going to leave you. Think of it this way. I've been in love with you for over a decade. That's never wavered. I've never stopped. I know who you are, Liz Ortecho, the good and the bad. And nothing's scared me away. Nothing can scare me away. I know things have been hard, but losing me is something that you don't have to worry about. Ever."

"I know that. Without evidence, I know that" She replied when he said he was never going to leave her. She knew that in her heart but her mind was a whole other story. She was still so damaged and broken from when her mom left her and she probably always would be. Her heart and mind had been at battle for days now because of it, making her miserable. Listening to him talk, she realized she should have approached him about what was going on right away instead of avoiding him and trying to fix it on her own. When he was done speaking, she let go of his hand and launched forward, wrapping her arms around him in a hug. Sometimes she could be overwhelmed by the way he felt about her but at this very moment, this was exactly what she needed to hear. "Thank you. You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear that"

	“I’m not saying it just to make you happy,” he said softly. “I’m saying it because it’s the truth.” It was one of the few things in his life he was completely sure of - he loved Liz and had for most of his left. "A truth that I needed to hear to feel happy again" She told him away as she pulled away, her hands moving to touch his face. "That thing took away every ounce of happiness I had until I was a shell of myself and hearing how much you love me and that you'll never leave me, my heart is souring again and I feel the happiest I've ever been" She told him with a bright smile on her face. She leaned in to kiss him after she was done speaking.
