Who: Tyrone Johnson & Tandy Bowen
What: Ty's arrival
Where: Dance Studio
When: Very late Monday night
Warnings: not really
Status: complete

Twice now, Tandy had broken into this studio late at night to make use of the room and the mirrors, and she was glad she’d found it. The dance she was trying to learn was the one she’d been learning in NOLA since she hadn’t really started lessons yet here, and by coming at 11:30 at night, she had the place to herself. The only light was the moon shining through the windows and her powers, shining from her hands as she spun her way across the room.

She’d fallen the few times she’d been there before, but inwardly she was proud of herself as this time, she made it all the way through the routine and ended it posed in front of the mirror, one arm and leg outstretched, when she suddenly spotted a familiar movement behind her, like a puff of shadow suddenly appearing. Lowering her arm and leg slowly, Tandy turned, then smiled at her best friend.

“It’s about time you got here.”

***

It wasn’t unusual for Ty to find himself somewhere unexpected even though he was able to better control his powers now than he was when they initially manifested. It also wasn’t unusual for him to discover that Tandy was wherever he landed.

What was unusual was her smiling at him and greeting him as if she’d expected him. The last thing he remembered was sitting next to her on a bus, so he was confused to find her in what appeared to be a dance studio.

“Where is here?” he asked.

***

“Fake New York City. Long way from where we were heading,” Tandy replied. Walking over to her belongings, she picked up her phone and a bottle of water, then returned to Ty. Holding out the phone so he could scroll through the network and see for himself, she drank slowly from the water before she went on.

“Did you get a letter from someone called the Jubilant Entity? It’s real. We’re in some other dimension with other people that were brought here too. Even some of the Avengers are here. I showed up a few weeks ago.”

***

Ty stared at her for a long moment, trying to make sense of what she was saying. “Fake New York? Tandy, what are you talking about?” He took her phone and gave it a quick glance, but didn’t read anything too closely.

“Jubilant Entity?” That sounded like some kind of bad guy to him. “A letter?”

Sticking his hands in the pocket of his hoodie, he pulled out a piece of paper and read it, his eyebrows creasing in confusion. “Is this some kind of vivid hallucination? I know we’re not in the cloak, so…” Was it something else? It didn’t make sense, that was for sure.

“The Avengers? Aren’t they criminals or something now?”

***

“This is some kind of freaky alternate dimension stuff. Not the cloak, not anything from Andre, it’s just...magic, or something. I don’t really know.” Tandy took her phone back as she sipped some more water.

“I haven’t heard any definitive explanations for it. And yeah, I guess they are back home, or some of them.” Giving a short laugh, she shook her head. “But a bunch of them are here and they’re not in jail. Tony Stark’s got his company here and took me on a tour, even offered me an internship. Trust me, things here are weird.”

But damn, she was glad to see him.

***

“Weird sounds like it barely scratches the surface,” Ty said. It was pretty obvious that he believed what she was saying and they had both seen a lot of weird things in their lives, so why not traveling to a freaky alternate dimension. “But, okay.”

He looked down at the letter again. “So, we just… go live in the apartment they give us and then what?” They’d been on their way to go and do good things. Was that possible here?

***

“Pretty much,” she said with a small smile. Tandy wanted to step in and hug him, but they weren't really the type to hug unless under extreme circumstances, and considering all they'd just gone through?

What was a little cross-dimensional kidnapping?

"So far, we just...live, I guess. They gave me a guardian, so you'll probably get one too. She's cool, she's like a superhero."

***

“A superhero, huh?” Ty said. He guessed living with a superhero wouldn’t be so bad. Of course, he wasn’t nearly as lucky as Tandy when it came to that sort of thing so he wasn’t going to get his hopes up. “I don’t really need a guardian, but whatever.”

He’d spent plenty of time living on his own, taking care of himself, when he was hiding out to avoid being charged as a cop killer.

***

“And you think I do?” She flashed a small smile at him. Before he’d taken up residence in her church, it had been hers for years, after all. “Let’s go to the apartments and see where you ended up. Then we can get something to eat and I’ll fill you in on who’s who around here.”

***

Whatever this place was, Ty figured it couldn’t be too bad since Tandy was here. They’d gotten through worse together. “Yeah, okay,” he said. “Lead the way.”
