Cisco had been struggling with things lately, missing home, trying to find a place-so he spent quite a great deal of his time filling it with things. Whether it be helping Tony build robots, or meeting a robot he was trying to find a way to find his place. It was rough going for him. He hadn’t had a roommate for real since college. Barry had stayed with him once for a while, but Barry knew him. He was comfortable with him, and he was struggling with missing him as well. He wondered about what was happening back home. If he was here, what was going on there? Or did they even notice and which was worse? Internal crisis was fun, wasn’t it? When Daisy said she was setting up that Shield thing, Cisco wasn’t sure what to think. People had such strong reactions it wasn’t like they were excited to help, he could understand that-but he wondered how big she was trying to go. No better way to find out than to pay a visit to her shiny new building and take a look around He sent her a text to ask for location and waited. --- After everyone had given Daisy their opinions on SHIELD, Daisy has pretty much kept low and just been setting up everything that she needed to set up. She understood their concerns. She took it all in, but she was going to do this. She was going to prove them all wrong. Lincoln helped her set up when he could, but mostly she had been setting up all alone. Like now. She paused when she had gotten the text from Cisco. She had given him the address and then went back to work on one of the computers. * He didn’t blame her for keeping quiet, he probably would have too after all that. People were hesitant, some were even angry based on their past experiences. He understood it, if ARGUS showed up he’d be wary too. They needed to see with their own eyes that it could do good and would do and nobody would be in danger. He got himself a cab to that location and winced as he got out. That was not a forgiving ride. New York cab drivers were every bit as wild as people and media said. When he got to said location, he looked around until he found her and went to sit on the other side of the computer’s desk to watch for a second. “How many of those have you done so far?” He asked curiously, wondering how versed she was in setting up networks. For Cisco it was like breathing air. * All Daisy wanted to do was protect the city and the people within. Especially all of the ones who had been brought here against their will. She didn't want to spy or any other bad thing people had brought up. She just wants to keep everyone safe. That was it. And she was going to prove it to everyone. Once she got this place set up. She glanced over at Cisco as she finished a line of coding. “Today? A few.” Once she finished, she sat back and gave Cisco her full attention. “I’m kind of surprised that you decided to come here.” * “In total.” He had to wonder, a place this big was probably going to require a big network. He leaned on that desk to watch curiously, he was always the one in that position. Putting together whatever tech needed fixing. “Well, seeing is believing.” He commented with a shrug. In some cases anyway. He wanted to see that what she was doing was actually on the up and up as she said. “Why so surprised?” * “Yeah, in total so far. It’s just me doing this alone. Linclon doesn’t know anything about this stuff. So far I’ve got some databases started, the security and that’s about it.” She had so much more to do. She wasn’t sure how long it was going to take her, but she knew for sure this was going to take more than a few weeks. “I hope so,” she said with a small sigh. “Because I feel like nobody believes me about all of this, besides Lincoln. It felt like they wanted to beat me down until I gave up. I know you didn’t. But you were still skeptical about it all. You just weren’t an asshole about it. So, yeah, I was surprised that you wanted to come and check all of this out.” * “Skeptical I still am, but I don’t want to be. Just...military type operations and metas even where I’m from have a not so great relationship. But for what it counts I want to believe you?” Cisco was basically an open book where his stance was. But he wasn’t about to berate her like he’d seen some of the others do. That was going to get them nowhere. “You’ve gotten pretty far then for a solo act.” He commented as he chewed his lip idly and looked over at the machine she was working on. “If you leave this tied up like that though you’re going to overload your entire network. Everything’ll crash.” He pointed at a few messy looking connections and seemed to be offering an olive branch. * “The government is against not only SHIELD but Inhumans as well. So, I get it.” They’re the reason why SHIELD is seen as bad once again by the public. The LMDs (life model decoys) didn’t help either. But that was there and this is here and now. “It counts,” she said with a tiny smile. “Yeah, well, not wanting to stay at home and not wanting to pay attention to the network has given me a lot of time to set this all up on my own.” She followed Cisco’s gaze and saw what was catching his attention. “I know. Do you want to help?” * “Inhumans?” He asked with a raised eyebrow, he’d never heard the term. He could take a guess an assume it was some sort of meta type thing though. They all seemed to have their own word for people with powers or abilities. “You know and you set it up like that?” He frowned a bit at hr as he inspected a little further and looked up to confirm whether or not she was actually kidding. “Well I’m not going to leave it like this.” He smirked, not trying to be an ass but teasing all the same. “I’d rather not see you sink on your first day running.” He offered a smile in return as he began to fix the problem, “If you reroute those systems you’ll have less chance of overloading too.” * “People were given powers by being exposed to terrigen mist and go through a process called terrigenesis,” Daisy explained. “I know, I know. Stupid rookie move. But I’m tired and alone and…” she just let her sentence fade. She left out the fact that the way people reacted was still getting to her. Not only that, but she was still having to wrap her head around the fact that Lincoln wasn’t dead anymore. “Thanks,” she said with a small smile towards Cisco and then started to get back to work on fixing everything that needed to get fixed. * When she started to get back to work on things, Cisco actually smacked her hand away. “I’ll do it.” Hey, he said he’d help. And he didn’t just mean point out her errors. He meant real actual assistance. Besides, this kind of stuff was a little fun for him most of the time. “Never heard of that, but it seems like everyone has a term. We have meta. People with power.” He understood being tired and alone lately more than she knew. Before Caitlin, he was also alone and it was disheartening. “Not alone anymore.” He offered with a little smile in return. “What’s it like where you are from? Better than this, worse than this?” He asked as he worked on the computer without even skipping a beat. * Daisy moved her hands away after Cisco smacked at them. “Okay, okay.” Hey, if he wanted to do the work, she was fine with it. She needed the break. She was starting to dream about coding and everything lately since that’s all she had been focused on for over a week now. “Sounds like Inhumans,” she said. “Where I’m from? Well, things are crazy back at home. We don’t get singing leprechauns, but we get to deal with other powered people and the government always trying to take us down. Sooo, I guess being here so far is no different than being home. Except...” she paused for a moment before she started to talk again. “Back at home Lincoln is dead.” * He smirked when she agreed. He said he wanted to help and he meant it, so enjoy watching for a moment while Cisco helped. And he could wire and talk all at the same time so it wasn’t a big deal. And then they’d get their main computer up online. Or perhaps a couple control computers for a backup if one died. “We have a government that doesn’t like us, but usually they stay out of our way. They know they can’t deal with half of what we are doing. We’re pretty fortunate for that by the sounds of it.” He admitted as he finished up with the computer with almost record timing. “What else?” He asked, what else needed to be done? “Death is always hard...we see it so much though it’s like we didn’t have time to process any of it.” Cisco shrugged. He’d dealt with his brothers death, but all the others that followed after it? Not so much. It was easier not to. * Hey, if Cisco wanted to do the work, he could go right on ahead and do it. Daisy didn’t mind having this mini break. She sat back and watched as Cisco worked on the computer. “We tried, but they always stick their nose in or try to control us. You think they would just leave us alone and let us deal with the stuff that they can’t deal with.” Daisy sort of laughed before she grabbed a clip board with a long list of things that needed to be done. “All of this,” she said as she handed over the clipboard. * “Governments, can’t live with them-can’t live without them.” Cisco rolled his eyes, he’d seen other countries suffer without a real government system, there were pros and cons to everything. When he took a look at the clip board he gave a low whistle and raised an eyebrow. “Guess we should get to work.” |
