"I don't know, I kind of miss the kids..." But his smile was playful as he lifted her hand to brush a kiss against her knuckles. "It is nice to have a night on our own, no matter how much I might love them." And in that moment, as he so often did, it was easy to pretend. He could almost pretend that this was the life they'd been meant to live all along. Happy together with a happy family and surrounded by people who loved them.
