It was no secret that Frigga shared a special bond with her youngest son. She loved Thor with her entire heart and always had, but that was Odin's boy. Boisterous and excitable and ready to fight whatever needed fighting. She had come to love Angela in the time she'd spent with the girl and though she knew she wasn't hers, exactly, she did consider her one of her children. And she knew, in time, she'd love Sylvie just as much as she did her boys. In some ways, perhaps, she already did.
But Loki was different. Despite her not having borne him herself, she'd fallen for him the minute Odin had brought him home and placed him in her arms. He'd given her a sheepish look, probably expecting her to yell at him for bringing home a surprise baby from his raid on Jotunheim. Instead, the tiny boy had looked up at her and cooed and there was absolutely no way she was letting anyone else raise him.
She'd been given the gift of sight, raised by witches and taught in the ways of both light and dark magic. Obviously she had known her son had the power to cause chaos, even death. But she had worked with him one on one, molding his magic in the ways she knew best.
Obviously it had backfired. And maybe she should hold some regret for the lives lost in Loki's quest to show everyone he could be just as good as Thor. But all she'd been worried with was how hurt he must have been to turn the way he had.
And now? Now they were here. The boys were getting along. They seemed relatively happy and content with each other. Thor had settled into a life of his own and Loki...well, perhaps he would in time. He was here, he was comfortable. There was no reason for him to compete any longer.
There was a second chance here, and Frigga wasn't about to turn it down.
She laid out a setting of tea while she waited for her son to arrive. Even when there had been a palace filled with servants, she had preferred to make her own tea.
