Off to the side were three desks that Kate, earlier in the week, had tried to stack in silly defiance at the changes in furniture. She had planned it out to be an amazing structure, but s'mores happened. And you couldn't deny anyone the ooey and gooey goodness of a s'more.

Today, though, was for Cassie.

There were a few hats, tee shirts, and two stylish jean jackets spread out on the floor. Alongside of the items were containers of glitter, sequins, pins, and crafting glue. Fabric paints were in a container as well, and Kate? She was rather pleased with the entire setup.

She even remembered snacks and drinks. Cupcakes, cookies, chips, and juice.

"What do you think?" Kate held up one of the hats with a badly-drawn dog face in bright yellow paint. "It's Lucky. You see it...right?"

	Cassie giggled and held up a stencil of a purple flower. "It is going to have glitter on it when I'm done," she explained. "I figured it could get attached to the back of the jacket." She leaned over and began tracing the flower. "Thanks for doing this with me, Kate. I love Bruce's house, but it gets crowded sometimes!" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"That is going to look amazing. Everyone is going to want a Cassie original!" Kate had pushed her terrible hat to the side and had moved on to trying to stitch sequins onto another hat. Whoever said threading a needle was easy was very wrong.

"Oh, hey, it's not a problem! Sometimes you need some quality Cassie time, right? Trust me, I get it. There were plenty of times that me and the team needed our own time. It's okay to feel that way."

Because they could be exhausting, herself included. Kate wasn't blind to that.

"How's school going? You started, right?"

	Cassie nodded. "School's okay. I have friends so that's good." She tended to get along with most people, but she still worried about a new school year in a place she had only been for a few months. She shot Kate a shy smile. "Do you know Billy?" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"I had no doubt about that. Anyone who wouldn't want to be your friend just isn't cool." Or wasn't cool in Kate's opinion. Then again, anyone who hurt Cassie was likely to meet Kate's fist in a dark alley.

Her tongue sticking out in concentration, or frustration it was hard to tell, Kate stopped attempting to thread another sequin. "I know two of them, but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you mean Super Billy and not Magical Billy, right?"

Pausing in mid-sequin threading, Kate's eyes went wide and she dropped everything. Scooting a bit closer to Cassie, chin in her hands as Kate rested her elbows on her knees, she was grinning ear to ear.

"Do they! Cassie, please, tell me everything and I, as an older sister type of friend person, will also offer an opinion that you are welcome to take if you so decide."

"Ask him!" Okay, that wasn't helpful, but it was the first idea that came to mind. Kate laughed and held up a hand. "Okay, okay. I know that wasn't what you were looking for." Kate made a face, chewing idly on her lip.

"Well, okay, so first? The most important thing? Whatever happens, don't get discouraged. Boys are interesting creatures just like girls, but definitely not as complicated."

Reaching for a piece of paper and a marker, Kate wrote Cassie's name, then Billy's name, and drew a line down the middle of the paper.

"So, what are things he likes?"

	"Superhero stuff," Cassie replied, but didn't give away Billy's secret. She wasn't sure *how* much of a secret it still was, but just in case. "Food, music, normal things!" She laughed as her cheeks turned rosy. "Do I have to do it in person?" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"A solid list to start with for sure," Kate assured her, chuckling as she wrote down the items. "And, probably? That's still how you ask someone, right? There's not some weird text language the youths are using these days, is there?"

Kate almost groaned at the thought. She wasn't that much older, ten years give or take, but dunking on her own age always got a few laughs. Especially from the younger ones. She'd always been a little older than Cassie, but not this much.

"Lets see. Cassie likes...superhero stuff. Food. Music. Crafts." Kate marked it with a question mark. Sometimes guys liked doing crafts. Sometimes they didn't, and that was just fine.

"Okay, so, ask him to have a burger or something? Burger, fries, milkshakes. Oh! There is a diner in the city? Amazing food. Especially their pancakes."

	Cassie was quiet for a minute as she colored mostly because she was thinking over everything Kate said. Finally, she nodded. "A diner. That sounds good. We had some in San Francisco, but nothing like the ones here." (Reply to this) (Parent)
