Oh my god. She was completely ridiculous. Why did he have a thing for someone so completely ridiculous? Not that he had a thing for her. No, that was also ridiculous. Whatever, the point was, he was having a very difficult time not laughing. His poker face worked well in the courtroom, it would have to work well here and now.

"What the hell?" He declared, pretending to jump a little at the book. He wondered if she'd even realize that just because he couldn't see it, that he still knew the book was being put away? How much could he milk this?

He pretended to freeze, as if listening carefully. "Is...is someone in here?" Then, because he obviously gave off the air of someone who talked to themselves regularly, he shook his head with a chuckle. "Don't be stupid, Murdock, ghosts aren't real."
