WHO: Lydia Martin & OPEN
WHERE: At the base of the Eiffel Tower
WHEN: 8:45pm
WARNINGS: Low, mild panic attack

This wasn't right. This was so not right. Lydia had been about to fuel up her car and now she was staring up at the Eiffel Tower and there was a note that floated directly into her hands as if it were guided by magic. Leaving that aside for now, she shut her eyes and tried to will herself back to New Mexico. The smell of the gasoline fumes. The heat from the asphalt and her car. The sound of car doors slamming and Stiles coming back from the convenience store with way too many crinkly snack foods. Yup, she was at the gas station. Going to fuel up any second now...

It didn't work.

She could feel her heartbeat pick up, the edge of panic crowding into her thoughts. Taking a slow, deep breath, she opened her eyes again to try and get her bearings. Yea, this was definitely Paris. "Merde." This was definitely the wrong outfit to be wearing in Paris. At least it was a hallucination and no one would actually see her like this.

Reading through the note clutched in her hand, she scoffed to herself. Oh sure, 'the first month's rent is on me' and other ways girls get trafficked into slavery, she thought to herself before starting a second reading. It didn't have much to go on, so she supposed she was on her own for the time being. "Bonjour?" She called out haltingly to the closest passing stranger, not sure if she wanted them to be able to hear her or not.

Moving on was maybe a bit strong for what she'd been assuming, but it was nice to hear. "Technically, I didn't exist here to cheat on." Not that existing or not had ever been a requirement for her previous boyfriends. She really knew how to pick them... except Stiles. She didn't really deserve someone like him, had struggled for a long time with accepting a love like his, but she was working on being good enough. Squeezing his hand, Lydia flashed him a small smile. "I wouldn't have blamed you."

Playing back the part of his statement that hadn't been confirming she needed to be concerned, her brow furrowed a bit, head tilting as she looked at him. "Who's Cisco?"

"Doesn't matter," he told her. "I only want you." Maybe if he had been stuck here for years and never got to see Lydia again then he would have probably moved on. But it had only been a month. He had eyes for nobody other than Lydia. He brought her hand up and kissed the back of it. "It was only a month and I love you. I didn't need to look at anyone else." Or even think about moving on.

"Oh, right. He's my roommate. I'm pretty sure you'll get to meet him."

He glanced around and then looked at Lydia. "Okay, since we're in Paris or a version of it, maybe we should explore a bit. Unless you're not feeling up to it still."

"I love you, too." Lydia pressed her lips to his shoulder, hiding a grin in the material of his shirt. She knew she didn't have to say it, but she really, really liked to. Especially when he was being sweet.

"I'd hope so. I'm already planning on claiming your room over mine. For safety reasons. Though I suppose you could try to keep me busy enough to never meet him."

She nodded enthusiastically, swinging her legs back down so her feet were on the ground. "A walk along the Seine?"

"I was hoping you would say that," he said with a smile. "Safety reasons? Hmm...I'm pretty sure that I can keep you busy." He liked the idea, but he knew sooner or later Lydia would have to meet his roommate.

"Sounds good to me." He stood up and then waited for Lydia to do the same. "After that, we should check out the Eiffel tower." If they were going to be stuck in this version of Paris, they should at least do some of the touristy things.

Keeping hold of his hand, Lydia tugged Stiles along as per usual. His stupidly long legs would catch up with her in no time, but she only made it a few steps before she whirled back toward him, bringing up her free hand to keep him from running into her. "Wait. You were going somewhere before you ran into me."

Stiles didn't really need to be dragged along, he easily followed Lydia until she stopped walking. He stopped right before smacking right into her. "I was just wandering around. I had nowhere specific that I was heading to." He had just wanted to take in the sights before Paris went away.

She watched him for a second, lips pursing as she tried to decide if he was telling the truth. Figuring he was, she whirled once more and started walking. "Except for right into me, somehow." The odds weren't quite astronomical, but they weren't commonplace either.

He knew what she was doing. She was trying to figure out if he were telling the truth or not. He really had no destination in mind before he ran right into Lydia. "You're a magnet and I was drawn to you?" He flashed her a quick smile and then started to walk again.

Snorting, she shook her head. "A magnet for trouble, maybe." The Seine wasn't far from where she'd landed, and the sun was dipped low in the sky, dappling the water in a way that felt magical. "The note said I need a job. Do you have one?" After a month, rent must be due for him. Even thinking that felt slimy. Hopefully, that feeling would wear off, or she wasn't sure she'd be able to sleep.

"Heeeyyy..." he stopped before he even started to defend himself. "Okay, you might be right." Then again it felt like they were all magnets for trouble. "I don't have one yet. I'm still trying to figure out if I can just continue the whole FBI thing or do I need to rethink what I can do here." It would be nice if anyone had any real information. Maybe then he could figure out what he needed to do. But finding out stuff was slow going. "I would ask what you're going to do, but you just got here. I'm sure you have no idea."

The idea of him continuing his FBI training made it feel like they could be here for years. Like this wasn't some kind of blip. Seeking comfort at the thought, she moved closer and wrapped her hand around his bicep. "I think you should if you can. You're clearly suited for it. If I can help..." She'd just gotten here, she had no idea what she could actually do, but she'd try anything. "I don't think anyone's going to pay me to pursue a doctorate in mathematics."

"I'll find out once we're back," he told her. "I will take any help that I can get. Especially if it's coming from you." He wasn't sure how she could help, but it was Lydia. He'd take any offered help that she was willing to give. "They might. You never know." He glanced out at the water for a moment before looking back at Lydia. "What do you want to do next?"

There was more than one way to take his question, and Lydia's mind jumped to the macro version first, even logically knowing it wasn't what he really meant. Not that the micro answer was much easier. She was silent in thought for a moment before she answered him. "You mentioned the Eiffel Tower? Then some food—I'm starving." She hadn't eaten since they left California, she just realized. An empty stomach didn't make processing all of this new information any easier.
