Tony decided to take matters into his own hands when Bruce expressed reluctance about marrying Betty. Bruce deserved to be happy no matter how many times he (Bruce) denied it so Tony ducked out of Stark Industries during Bruce's lunch break and met him at a nearby café under the pretense of catching up.

"Order whatever you want, Brucie. My treat."

	"You have got to stop calling me that," Bruce said with a laugh, shaking his head. Tony was one of the few he'd really let get away with it. But he wasn't going to turn down lunch on his fairly wealthy (as opposed to ridiculously wealthy in their world) friend, and he did pick out a sandwich and a side of chips. 	"Aren't you always?" Tony retorted. "I mean who wouldn't want to spend time with me? Except maybe Cap, but he doesn't have any taste." He was only kidding. Mostly. Time healed those wounds. Bruce rolled his eyes, but a part of him would always be a bit concerned about that rift with Steve and Tony.

"Family life is amazing," Bruce admitted. It wasn't the way he had planned all those years ago but in a lot of ways, it was better. "I mean, I wouldn't turn down a lifetime supply of Advil, but the kids are great." He could live with teen sleepovers and science projects gone wrong if it meant he got the family he'd dreamed of for so long.

The laugh Tony got that time wasn't quite as genuine. The very idea gave him that anxious nausea in his stomach. Which wasn't new for him in any way. "I don't know. I don't even know if she's ready for that. We've only been 'back' together since what, December?" His actually said 'back' with finger air quotes before grabbing his own tray and following Tony to a table.

	"You won't know if you don't ask," Tony pointed out as he slid into a booth. "Besides, she is helping you raise a brood of kids. I don't think she'd do that if she wasn't serious about you." 	"Hey now, it's not an entire...okay, it's an entire brood." He couldn't help but laugh at that. "Besides, one of those kids is mostly sort of biologically hers." Though joint custody did exist. 	"Do you know how many times I fucked up with Pepper?" Tony shrugged. "I don't know how she still wants me, but she does and I know Betty wants you too." He took a swig of his drink and leaned over so that he was looking Bruce in the eyes. "You are one of my best friends and I want you to be happy," he said seriously. The look on Bruce's face was, admittedly, a bit sheepish. But he did try for a grin at least. "I thought Pep just wanted you for your money." Which they both knew wasn't true. As incredible as she was, Pepper Potts would have made her own way if she'd had to.

"I kind of gave up on it all. You know that. Wife, kids, steady work. This whole place is just mind-blowing." That someone like him even had the opportunity for all of this was just something he still couldn't quite wrap his head around.
