Kate wasn't the only one who found his apartment quiet.
Even for someone who could hear everything for a mile out, the world around them felt muted. Matt was New York City born and raised. Goodland was a decent substitute; it wasn't Manhattan, but it also technically was, so it had many of the sounds and smells of the city. The Entity seemed to prefer to jerk them around the last few weeks, though, and he couldn't get settled enough to really familiarize himself with the sounds around him. Also, he just sort of missed Lizzy and her constant chatter. She reminded him of a more elegant version of Foggy.
"Not even proper grocery store Twinkies? Kate, you disappoint me sometimes." He sipped at the hot drink, more than a little grateful she'd come by. Kate did know her coffee, at least, even if she could kill them all if she tried to make dinner. "We had a neighbor when I was a kid, always had coffee cake available. I tried to do that as an adult but it's not like I've ever been the dinner party sort so now I just buy one every once in a while. Glad I got this one before creepy funnel cake was my only option."
