You know that whole thing where parents go 'we're not mad at you, we're just disappointed' and that feels like a way bigger punch in the gut?

Just found out what that is in visual form.

Fun.

It's okay if you're not, too. You don't have to be.

Do you really think they were disappointed? Sometimes it's not quite that, right? Our parents just want to protect us. I get that...

Yeah; I'm sure they would've rather I stayed safe, in Utopia, where their essence spread out to keep it protected.

But I guess it just reminded me too much that they were gone, so I bailed out of there to have an adventure.

Do you want to talk about them? What they were like?

Honestly? I don't remember much about them. I know they loved me and I know they were heroes.

I probably remember more about when Loki was my mom than them though.

Of course they loved you. How could they not? :)

That seems... weird and complicated?

Yeah, but explain to a 6 year old that her mommies had to go away so that everyone else could keep their mommy and daddy.

Kinda? Loki's a shape shifter, so they can be male or female. She was my foster mom in Arcadia, until I threw a shark over the barrier and got banished. Then the universe was split back to its originals, I don't think anyone else remembers that though.

I understand how you feel, just in a... really reversed kind of way.

Complicated for you, I mean.

The joys of heroes running in the family?

Oh, well. I roll with whatever now. Had other people longer than I had them, so... I'm adaptable?

I don't know about heroes... They were my heroes?

Guess we have to be in the hero-ing business.

Isn't that the definition of a hero then?

At least we have each other?

Sure is! Mine sent me away. Our planet was dying.

Yep! It helps.

And there wasn't time for them to get away too? Yeah, I'd say that's pretty damn heroic.

Nope... just me and my cousin. Sort of lone survivors. That's why they're my heroes.

I wish you had more memories of yours.

That's a pretty sound reason. It's good you have your cousin though. Sort of a way to keep the memories going at least.

I do and don't. On the one hand it hurts less, because I don't remember them as well. But... on the other, I can't remember who I look more like.

It took me forever to find him! He ended up getting to Earth before I did. He was too young to remember what my aunt and uncle looked like.

Sorry, America. ♥

But at least you can both cherish the memory that they sent you away to be safe, and with a member of family?

♥ Thanks Kara, it really doesn't bother me terribly often.

It's really lucky we have each other. When I feel like I'm forgetting what they look like, I've got holograms now in the Fortress I can go see. Kal-El, too... Even though he's not here. He can at home.

It's okay! I understand. You're not alone.

That's really great, having something to remember them is important. And your cousin. At least you guys have that.

I'm super lucky having friends like you guys.
