Who: Steve Rogers and James Rogers
When: Saturday, January 30
Where: Rooftop
What: Fighting bad guys and saving kids!
Warnings: TBD but probably just some mild violence to rude creatures.

His life was a curse. Perhaps not in the literal sense but it was clear that something akin to quiet and normal would never be in the cards for Steve. He'd resigned to that, though. He could accept his fate as Captain America, the protector. At least here, he had his family back among others.

His family was what Steve taking steps three at a time as he rushed up to the roof. Steve hadn't met James formally yet but he'd learned enough from Tony. Enough to know that he needed to get there before the threat did. He'd picked up that the kid could probably take care of himself but that didn't matter to Steve. What mattered was that his son, even from another universe, was, for all he knew, in some sort of trouble.

With his shield in hand, the one James had left for him, Steve rushed through the roof's door and practically sent it from its hinges. The metal groaned and Steve froze at the sight of just what was threatening both the building and the city.

They would certainly give the Chitauri a run for their money.

"Hey, ugly." Rude but honest, Steve threw his shield at one creature allowing it to ricochet to another and another. They were only knocked back for a small count but that was enough time for Steve to make his way across the roof to where a trampled tent was. The red hair was his first inclination and it gave him pause.

Of course, he'd get Nat's red hair.

"You alright?"

James wasn’t sure what the fuck had been going on. One minute, he’d been hanging out in his roof-top tent, the next there were gross monsters running around. He would love to pretend that weirder things had happened… but no, this took the cake. He had managed to shoot off a few texts to Tony, rolling out of his tent just in time for it to get decimated by a snarling mess. Okay.

Throwing his shield had caused it to push away from him, but there were more than James thought he could reasonably handle, especially since he wasn’t exactly dressed in anything particularly protective.

He heard Steve’s voice ring out though, and he bit down his strange mix of annoyance and relief. He didn’t need this dude to come, James could manage. But still, his wall quickly melted at the sight of his dad.

“I said I had it handled” He said with his eyebrows raised. He dodged left as a Monster crashed down towards him, which allowed him enough space to move closer to Steve. “Though nothing has actually seemed to damage them much.”

Steve had to chuckle. Just a bit. He could hear those same words coming from both himself and Natasha at least a handful of times. Probably more. Their stubborn nature was practically dripping from the sentiment, but there was no time to admire such things.

The creature was thrown back with another hard hit from Steve's shield, the vibranium clang echoing into the air. He, himself, wasn't dressed much for battle, either. There hadn't been time to consider that bit. Steve only knew he had to reach James on the roof before the monsters did. They weren't like anything he had seen before and while Steve wasn't well-versed in varying monster types, he had had his fair share.

Human and non-human.

"Everything has a weak spot. We just have to find it. Not here, though. Not right now. Right now, we need to get back inside. Let Tony know." Another monster came bounding at them, leaping with its jaws wide. Reflecting it with his shield, there was an unhealthy squish as the two collided. That was a good sign. At least until another seemed to begin crawling out of the pile of ooze.

Reaching a hand over to rest on James' shoulder, Steve gave him a firm nudge. "The door. Go!"

James could almost feel his eyes rolling out his head, and without much thought shrugged off his fathers hand. “I’m not a child.” He gruffed, but he still found himself moving towards the door at his fathers command. He winced slightly at the clash of sound before sending one of his electronic shields towards one that was near the edge, as expected it knocked into the forehead of the creature and sent it over the edge of the roof.

“This is a magical place and who knows what universe these things are from.” James commented, but he lingered, he wasn’t leaving his father behind. “C’mon.”

Steve wouldn't hold it against James for shrugging his hand away. Considering what the kid had gone through in his own home and now what he had here? It had to be overwhelming. It was as such for Steve with the exception of beating Ultron.

Following close behind, Steve pulled the door closed to the roof. It wasn't happy, of course. Not after he had gone storming through just moments ago in his effort to find James. "Nice shield you have there," he commented with a puff of air. His shield came back, sure, but the electric shield? That was interesting. It would give him something to badger Tony about later. Jokingly, of course.

Of course.

"Magical things really like to do a number on people and places these days, don't they?" There was a scraping sound coming from above most likely the creatures attempting to come through. The door wouldn't hold too long but given the nature of the beasts, Steve wasn't sure much would.

"Not the way I wanted us to meet, by the way."
