Valkyrie had procured some pumpkins after much thought. She wanted to decorate for Lyra, and both Lyra and Bruce were out at the moment so she invited Thor over to help her. She had a few large pumpkins, and an assortment of knives to do the work with. She even had a tray off to the side for seeds to roast. She'd read that is something you did and figured, she could manage that one.

She was set up on the kitchen table, cider in glasses near by, snacks to the side. She wasn't sure how much fun this would be, or how hard, but she was determined to make the apartment a little more halloweeny for Lyra to enjoy.

The kid really brought out a soft spot in the Valkyrie. Shed told Thor to just come on in when he got there, and when he did she had one arm in a pumpkin pulling the pumpkin guts out with a grin on her face.

This was not his first Halloween in Midgard, but when he had been living here with Jane, they didn't really do things like run around pumpkin patches and drink a lot of hot cider. This was... it was fun, and it reminded him a little bit of the harvest he would have at home. He had never actually carved a pumpkin before, but he hard heard about it and he was excited to help Valkyrie with it.

He was familiar enough with letting himself into Valkyrie's apartment, it helped that she was living with one of his most favored brother in arms. He stepped to where he was, and slung an arm over her hips, pulling her into him for just a moment to press a kiss at her temple.

"Do I get to carve a pumpkin too?" He said, obvious glee in his voice. "Though I did see some of the children painting them at the festival yesterday as well."

	She grinned as he pulled her back, tilting her head into his kiss. She smirked over her shoulder at him, "Mm, hi." She didn't touch him, her hands covered in pumpkin gore and all. "I have enough pumpkins we can carve a couple and paint some. I figured it would be a fun surprise for Lyra." She grinned up at him..it felt good, to be relaxed again. Thor beamed. He was not as skilled as Valkyrie or his brother with a tiny blade, but he was certain that he could make due with one for this. He had never carved a pumpkin before, but he was sure that he could get the basic idea down--- he'd seen people do it at the festival.

He moved up next to Valkyrie, pulling a pumpkin in front of him and looking at the strange assortment of tools. "How do I know which one to use?"

Normal. They were doing something normal. She wasn't sure how to really handle that, she'd fought against anything normal. But sitting at a table with Thor, and a pile of pumpkins, she found she liked it.

She set aside one, and grabbed a fresh one so she could show him. "This one to carve the top open. I picked up all of them but one really only been using this one." She handed him the small knife, then showed him how she'd done it.

It was likely not the correct way, but she made it work.

	Thor wasn't the most graceful person with a knife, but he had the strength to make it work. He sawed a slightly misshappen circle near the stem and popped it off with relative ease. Valkyrie smiled over at him as she worked on hers, setting the top aside she started digging out the guts, separating the seeds so she could roast them for a snack. That much she'd figured out was really good.

"I honestly don't know. They must have some reason." she shook her head, not really knowing, Midgardians had a lot of strange habits. "Something funny? Most people seem to carve strange faces into them or super detailed designs. I? Am going to try for the Valkyrior mark. Which might be a bit ambitious."

She was grateful - this place had given her a new best friend, family, and a solid relationship with Thor - she was content, and happy, for the first time in a long time.

Thor watched her for a moment, as she began to dig out the guts and pick out the seeds and he followed suit. He easily scooped out the slimy threads of the inner pumpkin and began to meticulously pick out the large seeds, placing a handful onto the plate she was using with a pleased grin. Thor was... oddly domestic. He was a trained warrior but spending time with Valkyrie, with his daughter and sister and brother and mother, these were the things he lived for. These were the things that he adored more than anything these days.

"I think..." He paused for a moment, "That I will make..." He shrugged, "Maybe I will make Korg. I miss him." He admitted.

They'd spent their entire lives fighting, or training to fight. The sudden thrust into a more simpler life had left them scrambling then... Settling in. Valkyrie had spent thousands of years elbow deep in chaos and mess. Having this was a nice change of pace.

Domestic. She'd never thought she'd ever be domestic, yet here she was, carving pumpkins, enjoying downtime with her family. family!</>

"Then Korg it is." She said softly, leaning over to place a kiss on his cheek.

Thor gave her a bright smile when she leaned over and kissed his cheek. Things were nice, and plain, and he enjoyed being there with Valkyrie. Playfully, he flung some pumpkin guts off his fingers towards Valkyrie.

Things were… almost perfect. There was a peace that he hadn’t felt in some time. He would make a note to do this with Torunn, that is… if she weren’t too old for such things. He would ask her soon. He would hate for her to miss out on such fun things.

Thor couldn’t help but watch Valkyrie as she worked on her own pumpkin, he couldn’t help but think about how beautiful she looked to him, even covered in sticky pumpkin. He couldn’t help but think about how it would be if they lived together, if she were around him constantly. He found his heart beating just for her.

“I love you,” He said gently, almost out of nowhere.

She blinked then tossed some back at him, picking the clingy guts off her face, laughing. She couldn't remember the last time she'd laughed so freely. She didn't bother wiping her face off, she had a feeling things would devolve back into a mess.

She focused on scraping the last of the guts out. She could feel him watching her and she smiled, for years she'd have balked at the attention, snapped back with annoyance, but now? She liked it. He didn't judge her, or look disappointed in her.

It was nice.

The small knife nearly fell from her fingers, though, breath catching in her throat. That had been unexpected. She blushed as she carefully set the knife down, moving to frame his face with her hands, pausing a hairs breadth away from his lips, "I love you, too." She said softly before kissing him.

Though he tried to dodge the bits of pumpkin she tossed back at him, he failed. "You wouldn't have hit me if I had both of my eyes." He smirked at her playfully, obviously taken no concern with being hit.

Thor grinned when she clasped his face with her hands, and he leaned into her kiss, pressing his lips just as firmly against hers as his arms came to wrap solidly around her waist.

"You smell like pumpkin." He teased her, dipping her slightly to kiss her again.

"I wonder who's fault it is that I smell of pumpkin." She smiled as he wrapped his arms around her. When did that start feeling so comforting? She wasn't sure. But she didn't mind. She was finding there was room for him behind her walls and armor.

"Don't think I won't dump the bucket over you in repayment." She was teasing, though, it was hard to tell if she would or wouldn't. She laughed as he dipped her, she returned his kiss softly.

No, she didn't mind the slip into being domestic at all. She found she really was enjoying it.

“It is likely the person who decided that we were going to buy and eviscerate all of these pumpkins for the tiny Hulk.” Thor shot back with a pointed look, “Whom, if I remember correctly, is a certain Valkyrie that I’ve grown fond of.”

He eyed the bucket for a moment. “If you did that, I would have no choice but to take a shower here, and I’m starting to think this whole event was just a ploy to get me to take my clothing off.” He teased, another nip at her lips.

"Ah but have you seen her smile when you do something for her? It's worth it. Also you threw guts at me, so I am still blaming you." She grinned at him, pushing a braid back behind her ear, "fond of, huh? I hope this Valkyrie appreciates that."

The Valkyrie laughed, a free sounding thing, "I need no ploys to get you without your clothes, Thor. I am nothing if not direct. You should know this by now." A wicked smile, "but that is a good idea"

“I would do anything for half the kids in this building.” Thor said easily. It was no secret that though he was a fierce warrior, he had a gigantic soft spot for children, particularly the children of his brothers in arms. “I think that my Valkyrie has come to appreciate how fond I am of her. If not… I imagine she soon will be.” He teased her.

He raised his eyebrows at her playfully, flashing her a devilish grin. “Are you suggesting that you would like me to ravish you?”

She toed the door shut before she sighed at the touch of his thumbs over her skin. It didn't matter how many times they wound up together, she was still amazed at just how much she liked being touched.

Valkyrie bent her head to kiss the top of his, deftly stepping out of her jeans and kicking them out of the way. Her hands moved to put him in an equal state of undress.

She was religiously bad at taking compliments. She had to bite back her denial, she believed him when he told her things. "Of course I am." She grinned, why shouldn't she apply her daily confidence to this too?

"Though I feel you've perhaps forgotten how lovely the elves are." She teased as she stepped towards the bath. They were not getting in her bed with pumpkin good.

	The speed of which he spoke made her blush a little, she ran her fingers over his head before she got soap to carefully scrub pumpkin from him. "Do I now?"
