Log: Laura & Open
Who: Laura Howlett & OPEN
When: Today, 9/27
Where: Streets of Goodland
What: Teddy Bear plot
Warnings: (Laura + giant teddy bear) x (claws + anger impulses) = teddy bear violence

Laura didn't know what was happening. When she'd gone to sleep the night before, she'd been in the city with the cool castle where all the adults danced, and she and Trixie had explored. When she woke up earlier that morning, her room wasn't that different, but the view outside the window was completely different. She was in a brand new, unfamiliar place that she didn't understand. It looked a lot more like home, but nothing she'd ever seen before since she'd been out in the real world. Big buildings like there had been in Las Vegas, but it was a lot brighter there.

On her way out the door, one of the people in her room said something about being 'back in Goodland.' She knew that the place where they'd been when she first arrived wasn't where everyone normally was. Maybe this was the normal place. Maybe this was the place they called Goodland. It didn't seem like it was any good.

The birds outside were weird, and she made a face at one that tried to get in her face as she passed. Laura didn't know where she was going, but she wanted to see what was this place was like. What type of dangers were around, what the people were like, and if it actually seemed 'good' at all. So far, it looked like any other big city, not that she had a lot of experience with those. She preferred her time in Canada with her siblings where they'd ended up settling. It was quiet and green. Not loud and concrete.

She hadn't gotten far when she heard someone screaming. Laura's senses were on full alert as she looked around for the source of the scream, and was surprised to see a woman looking up and then crouching and covering her head. Slowly, Laura raised her eyes and widened them at the sight of the extra large stuffed bear coming down the street. It had a dopey smile on its face and was waving one of its fuzzy paws, but its foot was barely a foot or two away from crushing the woman when it hit the pavement with a thud.

As soon as the woman realized she was still a live, she ran frantically from the scene, leaving the bear looking forlorn and sad that it was all left alone. The sadness only lasted for a few seconds though because it soon spotted Laura staring and began waving again. Slowly, Laura's claws slide out between her knuckles, and her stance was battle ready and tense. She wasn't going to run like the woman; she would fight. If this bear wanted to hurt her, she'd hurt it back first.

The poor bear too one step too close to the volatile mutant, and Laura sprang into action. Claws ripped at the bear's legs, fluff leaking out as it still kept trying to step forward. Using her momentum, Laura had climbed up the bear's front with her claws and then let herself slide down to the ground, dragging her claws all the way down. The bear made a strange gurgle noise and with a strong puff of air, all of its fluffy innards came spewing out all over the street. And all over Laura.

With a sniff of the air, watched the stuffing fall all around her and used her arm to swat some of it away from her face. It didn't look like it would, but if the bear were to get back up, she'd be ready.

They were out of milk which was weird since they'd been gone to wherever they'd been gone to but Blossom volunteered to go out and get it. Something felt strange but she couldn't have told you what it was and then she heard people yelling and screaming and then she saw it.

A giant teddy bear and there was a girl on top of it, slashing to pieces. Blossom hurried over to them and called up to the bear's assailant. "Hey, I think you've got him! There isn't much stuffing left in there." She glanced around. "There's not much left for the stuffing to be in either." Someone attacking a giant tedd bear didn't faze Blossom in the least, neither did the giant teddy bear, sure it was weird but she'd see plenty of weird in her life. "I think you can stop now."

So caught up in what she'd been doing, the new voice startled Laura and she turned around in a flash. Her eyes narrowed at the new person standing there. No one she knew or had seen around the weird city she'd been in before, but she hadn't seen a lot of people. And the people at the ball had been dressed in weird clothes.

Her claws were still out in defense. She had no idea who this girl was or if one of those bears would come back to try to step on someone else. Laura would make sure that didn't happen.

"It had big feet," said Laura in a matter of fact tone, expecting that to be enough of an explanation for anyone to decipher. Stuffing was still falling like snow, and the bear's feet poked out from the mounts of white fluff that had already fallen.

Was this really the Goodland place people had been calling home? Giant bears stepping on people and weird birds outside the place where they lived? It didn't seem so good to her. Just weird.

Blossom didn't comment on the claws but she made a note to mention it to her sisters. Clearly this girl wasn't someone you wanted to piss off and she could come handy in a fight. "Yeah," she said, looking at what was left of the bear's feet. "definitely big feet, those things could hurt if they stomped on you. I wonder why they showed up? The Entitiy does some freaky stuff."

She smiled at the girl. "I'm not going to hurt you if you want to put your claws away. You're new aren't you? I'm Blossom. My sisters and I have been here for a little while now. I can't remember how long, I lose track."

"Is that the fake wizard who brought me here?" Laura asked about the Entity. She still wasn't sure if she really believed in real magic, and it was easier to think about the Entity as a fake wizard who played weird tricks with science.

She didn't know how the bears got here, so she just shrugged a little. Since this was her first day in the real Goodland and not the place with the big castle, Blossom's explanation at least explained that the bears weren't normal for this place.

Not moving much at first, Laura glanced down at her claws, one of which still had a piece of white fluff hanging off the end of it. She nodded and slowly let them retract back into her hands.

"My name is Laura. I got here a few days ago."
