Log: Amy & Open
Who: Amy Bendix & Open
When: Today, afternoonish
Where: Villa Library/Study room
Warnings: Not likely

The whole looking like a cartoon, comic book character thing was finally over (thank god), and Amy was thankful that any move she made didn't result in a thought bubble above her head or WHAM action bubble for something like stubbing her toe on her bed. The event felt a little short-lived compared to how long other things sometimes lasted, but she was hardly going to complain about that. Instead she was getting back to normal and with that meant back to her swim classes at the youth center and dive classes at the place she'd found online. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was something. It was also a solid reason to not be forced to go to traditional school since she wasn't technically of age yet. School was school, right?

Today was a boring Sunday afternoon, though, and she didn't feel like taking the time to head over to the youth center. So, instead she made the short trek down to the study room slash library within the Villa. It was pretty impressive, and browsing the stacks of books showed it had a little of everything.

Amy was hardly looking for anything super academic, so she ended up in the fiction book section. She was a sucker for those trashy, teen-type novels no matter how badly they were written or how stupid the storylines seemed. The stories used to be good at taking her out of reality and into a world of crazy love triangles, supernatural creatures that didn't exist, and epic worlds of lore, but being here in Goodland had taken some of that away. She still enjoyed the stories, but they didn't work as well to help take her out of reality. Living alongside witches, werewolves, and vampires would do that to you.

There were a handful of people sitting around at the tables on couches lining the walls of the large room. Most were people she didn't know well, so she mostly kept to herself for now. She sighed and dropped her hand from scanning the different titles on the bookshelves, not really seeing much that caught her eye in spite of the dozens of titles available. It was looking to be just one of those days.

Now that Buttercup didn't need to think about attending school, she wasn't exactly sure what she was going to do. College was an option, but to do what? And Buttercup wasn't sure what Blossom or Bubbles were thinking on doing either. But she did know that she needed to do something.

So she'd started looking into maybe doing some classes, maybe she could do something like what she'd learn from Cal while he'd been there. It was a lot to do, for sure, but Buttercup was losing her mind just sitting around doing nothing. She could maybe take up something with music, or being a personal trainer. But her powers definitely worked against her there.

There was a book on the shelf that had some information on Wellness and Inner Peace. Which okay, a little not what she was looking for, but fine. Flying a little off the ground, rather than trying to reach for it, Buttercup floated back down to the ground with it in her hand, glancing over to some of the other people before giving a sheepish shrug, "Easier than getting help."

Amy still wasn't having much luck finding something that caught her eye-- at least in the way of books. What did catch her eye was someone nearby floating off the ground and picking out a book from one of the higher shelves. Amy's eyes went a little wide at first. She'd gotten used to Hope's witchy powers, but flying? That wasn't something she saw every day even around here. At least not without some tech to help make it happen.

"Much easier, and it gives a new meaning to being able to reach the top shelf," Amy said with a smile. As someone who considered herself to be a little.. vertically challenged, she might have been a touch jealous. Everybody knew that flying was one of the coolest superpowers out there.

"What did you decide on?" She asked and waved a hand at the dozens of books on the shelves nearby. "I haven't been able to decide yet." She wasn't even sure what kind of mood she was in other than one of boredom.

"There's not a shelf I can't reach," and Buttercup said it with an edge of pride too. Being able to fly was totally the best, and it came in handy when running late for stuff. Typically, Buttercup wasn't supposed to be used for when she slept in for school, but it wasn't like she could just let herself be late, right?

"Oh well, I'm trying to keep up with this meditation stuff I learned from someone here," losing Cal at the same time as Harry was sent back was a bit of a blow, and Buttercup was older now which meant she really needed to keep a good grip on her emotions and temper. "So, I figured it'd be good to read up a little more." She waved the book a little, kind of shrugging off the 'self-help' of it all, but pretty sure she needed it.

"I bet half the problem with so many people just watching TV is because there's just way too many books to choose from." Not that Buttercup was one for sitting in watching tv, just like she wasn't one to just sit and read a book either. "You thinkin' fiction or non-fiction? Might be easiest to narrow that one down first."

"That's really cool," she said, genuinely impressed. People with powers wasn't a new thing to Amy even before arriving in Goodland, but she'd never really had any personal experience with those with them. The sociopaths were all human, rich and well-connected, but still human. And then there was Frank who just could raise h-e-l-l with a crap load of guns and his temper. She knew there was more to it and wasn't always what it seemed cracked up to be, but she had to admit that sometimes she was a little jealous.

"Does that kinda thing really work?" One of her friends in Chicago had been into the meditation or zen thing, but Amy had never talked to her much about it. She probably could have used it more than once to help figure out and cope with her own issues.

"Um, fiction, I think? Non-fiction usually puts me to sleep, but I guess I haven't read that much of it." Amy's eyes scanned over the book selections. "Those bad teen drama novels?" She scrunched up her nose and gave Buttercup a sheepish look. "When in doubt, that's where I end up."
