REMY LEBEAU
EMMA FROST
WHERE Remy's apartment โ€ข WHEN after Steve's info gathering โ€ข The potential of trouble on the way offers unique avenues for Gambit and Frost. WARNINGS references to mind control, potential issues with murder/autonomy.
He knew it should've been worrying, the notion to let Emma into parts of his mind that not even Rogue had seen. Segments of himself he'd put in neat little boxes in areas of his mind that could keep him and everyone else safe.
Remy wasn't stupid, the gathering of information on who could do what and the abilities on offer wasn't just a contingency against nothing. Things had been mostly peaceful since he'd been in this little pocket realm, but that didn't mean it always was.

With Thanos' name being thrown around, and enough of the X-Men's enemies being known threats, having options was just forward thinking.

The Deathseed personality hadn't made an appearance since Hell, since getting Ilyana out of trouble, but even then it had been a near miss on just what that version of himself could do, especially when applied with the ability to corrupt those around him. If Apocalypse showed up, or even Sinister, they'd be screwed the moment they got to Remy.

He knew it should've been worrying, the notion to let Emma into parts of his mind that not even Rogue had seen. Segments of himself he'd put in neat little boxes in areas of his mind that could keep him and everyone else safe. But with Emma it wasn't exactly a worry.

Storm knew the darker parts of him, not all of them, he couldn't share everything with his sister, not if he hoped she wouldn't turn away from him. Rogue knew enough that she struggled to love him, knew so much that she'd abandoned him to die. Charles thought he knew, their trip through Australia had given Remy time to understand some of Charles' motives, but it had also let Charles understand a lot of Remy's reservations towards blind loyalty.

It wasn't blind loyalty that led him to offer Emma the open door into his mind. It wasn't even heady lust. She understood the darker parts, having them herself. She understood the heartache and what it led to. He'd never been especially close with Emma before; he respected the hell out of the woman, trusted her to make decisions that not even Slim could. But his mind had always been off limits to telepaths. Until now.

He'd cleaned up from the day, gotten drinks poured for the both of them, and sat himself down in the lounge. He knew better than most that there'd likely be an uncomfortable amount of talking before anything happened. Not least of all because Emma would want to make sure he understood what could happen, but because she'd want to know what she could potentially find in his head. Surprises no one really wanted. He wasn't nervous in the strictest sense, just apprehensive about the notion.

Emma wouldn't say that Remy's offer floored her, not exactly. Although she knew the Cajun was decidedly protective of his mind, that his powers created a barrier that even while he was unconscious kept Betsy from getting in, she also knew he trusted her. That was where some of the surprise started.

Their relationship was tentative, but blossoming in a manner that Emma hadn't entirely experienced, primarily because of Remy's secrets, his mental blocks that stopped her just knowing everything. It was a lure, certainly, having known every corner of Scott's mind before they'd fully committed to one another meant that Emma wasn't really surprised by much in his life, it also meant that she was constantly aware of Jean's shadow in their relationship. As much as Emma knew the ghost of Rogue was with them at times, she had to assume that Remy might feel the same about Scott.

Reading cues from Remy's language and emotions that he showed was a bigger challenge than just reading his mind, and Emma rather enjoyed the challenge in getting to know Remy better in a more conventional way.

So the offer for her to enter the deepest section of his mind to poke at a dark scar of his past was somewhat out of the blue. She could follow Gambit's logic enough to understand the reasoning, but that didn't mean she could understand his feelings on the matter.

She'd taken Lockheed out to spoil him a little with treats and gifts, her way of expressing her gratitude for what he shared with her in their own world, once she'd safely returned the happy dragon to his abode, she'd returned to Gambit's suite, determined to have an actual conversation about this matter before he could run away with the idea that unleashing Death in any capacity was a good idea. Finding him with drinks at the ready was just second nature now. "I hope you have plenty of these for the conversation this is going to be." She wasn't a fan of the deep, difficult, bringing up the past conversations herself, but needs must.

It took a while to figure out, but Remy had managed to work out that for all Emma Frost was a strong, independent and sure woman, she got a tad touchy about her past and when people decided to trust her. The notion that anyone would trust her seemed so very lost on Emma.

"I got you plenty, but chรฉrie, I don't need t'be drunk for y' to ask me no questions." He'd been decidedly open with Emma since his arrival, and after they fell into bed together it made no sense to try and hide anything. He'd done the with Rogue, tried to keep the parts of himself she wouldn't like away, and it just ended in fighting all the time.

He wasn't worried that he'd ruin whatever was growing with Emma by lettering her see what was in his head, wasn't worried she'd turn away knowing what he'd done in the past, who he'd grown from being.

Sliding her glass towards her, figuring something to do would ease things, Remy just sat back against the couch, "What y' worried it'll do, chรฉrie? If I trust y' with this?"
