Who: Ororo Munroe
When: Monday July 13 (slightly forward dated coz I'm sick and going to bed super early)
Where: Outside the apartments
What: A daring escape!
Rating: G so far

There were only two floors below her, Ororo saw as she climbed out onto the balcony attached to the strange building she found herself in. Looking up, though, the scale of the place was enormous. She had to lean back to count properly, the bulk of her small body hanging out into the air and supported only by her knees and ankles hooked around the bars and concrete. Four, five, six - nine floors in total, which she supposed wasn't so big compared to the photos she remembered of her father's, where he'd lived in America.

She pulled herself back in uncertainly. Wherever she was now, it wasn't Cairo. Her hair hung down below her head as she lowered herself, upside down, towards the level below, pondering this. She felt normal, not like she'd slept for longer or deeper than usual. She was a light sleeper, too, and didn't see any way someone could have moved her, let alone so far.

Dropping, she caught the next railing neatly and let momentum twist her the right way around, holding on only long enough to get the angle right before allowing herself to fall to the ground proper. The impact hit her ankles and knees sharply and she had to take a few staggering steps before the stinging became manageable. That left her with another problem though - now that she was on the ground, where should she go? Nothing was familiar, even a little bit. Sticking to the side of the slick, modern building, she crept towards the sound of the street, thinking maybe she'd spot an ahwa or souk where she could lose herself in the crowd long enough to get information and a little money or food.

What she saw instead pulled her up short. Definitely not Cairo, probably not anywhere in Egypt, or even Africa. There had been strange things happening around her recently, but this was far beyond any of it. She could hear snatches of English as people passed, and frowned as she tried to make out what they were saying - it had been a long time since she'd used the language. That would be her first plan then. She'd find somewhere to sit where she could listen out until she sounded more like she fit in. Maybe by then she'd have some other ideas too.
