Log: Quentin & Julia
Who: Quentin & Julia
When: Shortly after Julia's arrival
Where: Julia's apartment
What: bffl reunion
Warnings: Spoilers for the most recent seasons of The Magicians

People showing up at random wasn't new for Goodland; Quentin himself was proof of that. People had come and gone during the few months since he'd arrived - since he'd died - but no one from home had made the trip. He probably should have been the first one to admit that cross-world travel was possible; after all, he'd done it himself more than once. But after time had passed with no one from home showing up, he had convinced himself that no one else from home would be showing up anytime soon, or ever.

The ways and means behind this place was still up for grabs, and a part of Quentin still believed in the back of his mind that this was some crazy afterlife. It was a small way to comfort himself that he was more or less alone without his friends from home. He wouldn't have wanted anything to happen to his friends, so if this was the afterlife and they weren't here? That should have been a good thing. It didn't explain away the countless other people who were here; some having leave and come back or given upgrades in their memories. No one ever would say that Quentin Coldwater was always the logical kind.

That theory was blown out of the water, though, because Quentin refused to believe that Julia was dead or had passed through the afterlife. He hadn't done what he'd done only to be joined by her a few months later. This world wasn't some offshoot of his own; it was what everyone had been saying all along: an alternate universe of the multiverse. He wasn't going to try making sense of it or justifying its existence in his head any longer.

Strange as it was, he felt almost nervous standing in front of Julia's door. His hand was raised to knock, but he hesitated. The first time he'd seen her face, or what he thought was her face, he'd been disappointed to find out that someone else here looked exactly like her. She'd turned out to be friend and nice enough, but she wasn't Julia. No one in a million lifetimes or past, alternate timelines would ever be his Julia.

So finally, taking a breath, he knocked and waited for the door to open.

Julia was, in fact, very much alive, although she had had a close call giving birth to her daughter. If she was honest, she could admit that she missed the psychic connection to her half-traveler baby, but being alive and sane was definitely preferable to he alternative.

Hope Quentin Wicker-Adiyodi was sleeping peacefully in a bassinet that had conveniently been in their apartment when they'd arrived. That had been a trip, having the door just open to them without a need for keys, but then this whole thing was pretty damn crazy, starting with the fact that they were here, in another world or dimension or whatever you called it. Goodland. Julia was sorry Penny hadn't come along for the ride, but she'd gotten at least one happy surprise in the short time she'd been here.

It was one thing to see Quentin's word's on the network her phone had connected to, but it was another thing completely to open her front door at his knock and find him standing there in the flesh. So many emotions consumed her when she saw him and it was barely a second before she was stepping forward to throw her arms around him in a fierce embrace, silent tears streaming down her face almost without her even realizing it.

She didn't know what this Entity was who had brought them here. She didn't know how it was possible that Quentin was here and not in the underworld, but she was too damn happy to see him to really want to question it just yet.
