Who: Liz and Kyle
What: Catching up
Where: Her place
When: After his post
Warning: TBD

After losing so many people in her life, Liz needed something good to happen and her favorite ex showing up as just about as good as it could get aside from Max coming back. She couldn't wipe the smile off of her face if she tried as she finished folding the load of laundry in front of her. The entity couldn't have had better coming; making him show up when she was just finishing with her Sunday chores. Putting the last bit back into her basket, the took it to her room to be put away later and closed the door, turning on Ricky Martin as she got back to the living room. Putting her phone in her back pocket, she began dancing as she walked over to the door to her apartment and opened it so he could come right in. This was such a mood lifter and now she just wanted to dance. And dance she did as she went into her booze stash, getting a few bottles out for them to partake in. The night they had to talk about was a bad one and she had a feeling they were going to need it.

Kyle still wasn't sure what was going on when he had come to this new place. One minute, he was dragging Sargent Manes's unconscious body out of the bunker, next, he was somewhere else entirely. Well... someone else would eventually go and see Alex's dad eventually.

After getting to the apartment building and making a mental note of where he'd be staying, he went upstairs to find where Liz was. He got to the apartment and saw the door open. Not exactly the best of things considering everything that had just happened back home, but he went with it. He peered inside to see Liz dancing and smiled. That was definitely a much better place than where he had left her. He gave a soft knock on the door before stepping inside. They would need to sit and talk about everything that had just happened back home, and the alcohol would definitely help.

Wearing a pair of black leggings, a fitted t-shirt and a baggy open sweater, Liz shook her hips around the kitchen as she got glasses out for them. She hadn't felt this happy in weeks and it was a feeling she could get used to. She hoped to feel like this more often noa that Kyle was here. Both in Goodland and in her apartment. When she heard his knock, she looked up and a bright smile crossed her face. "Kyle!" She exclaimed, all but running over to him and throwing her arms around him in a hug. Seconds in she remembered she had the music going and reached back into her pocket to pull out her phone to turn it off. As she did, she resumed the hug and held it for a few more moments before pulling away so they could see each other's faces. "I'm so glad you'r here"

"And I'm so happy you're okay!" an exasperated Kyle returned the embrace. "You weren't exactly in the best condition when I left you," he frowned as he pulled at the collar of his shirt a little, remembering the fact that he was wearing a bullet-proof vest that actually had a bullet in it. "Oh... right," he blinked. "I should probably get this off."

"Right, the whole getting stabbed thing" She replied with a frown of her own. That seemed like an eternity ago and just yesterday all at the same time. Being there for so long then getting sent home caused time to be a little funky for her. When the first came back she didn't know which way was up for a bit, her near-crippling depression over losing Max twice over not helping with that.

Pulling back, she immediately opened her mouth to ask what he needed to get off but then she grew concerned when she saw what he had on under his shirt. "Do I even want to know why you're wearing that?" She asked as she ushered him into the apartment and shut the door behind him. Before he could say anything, she reached out and helped him get his shirt off. Intending to help him get the vest off too, she gasped and stepped back when she saw the bullet lodged on it.

"Kyle ... who shot you?" She asked, a shocked look on her face as she looked up from the bullet to him.

It wasn't like he wasn't planning on telling Liz what he had just been through. In fact, it was on his list of things to do after taking care of the situation that had been at hand. He sighed, looking down at the place where the bullet hit. There was sure to be some bruising under it.

He slowly looked up into Liz's eyes as he prepared himself to talk about what had just happened. "Sargent Manes, actually," he looked to her, knowing that it would probably be of little surprise. "He knows about Guerin. He was going to kill me, then go after Alex and Guerin. It was probably only a manner of time before he connected the dots to figure out about Max and Isobel."

Taking his hand, she lead him to the couch so they could sit as they talked, happy that she cleared the laundry off of it just a few minutes ago. Sitting down, she didn't let go of his hand as she listened to him, her eye wide as she took it all in. She knew Alex and Kyle had been working on things involving Project Shepard for a while now but due to being in her own little world with Max, she had no idea the extent of it, or that Jesse Manes was involved.

"That's ... I had no idea he was involved in any of that" She told him, cringing a little bit because she knew how bad that sounded. Alex had gotten on her months back for being a bad friend and there she was doing it again. Reaching out, her fingertips grazed the bullet that was lodged in the vest then she pulled back like it was on fire and shook her head, reaching out to get it off of him. It had to be uncomfortable and she knew she was uncomfortable herself just seeing it on him knowing what happened.

"What happened after?" She asked as she worked on the vest.

"After he shot me, he continued to monologue, assuming that I was bleeding out. I surprised him by getting up and stabbing him with a needle full of barbituates," Kyle explained in an even tone.

He sat down with her, just happy to be away from all of that. "Turns out, he was running Project Shepard. He's the one that told me about the aliens first. He believes that they're all dangerous. That's why the rest of the survivors were..." He paused, momentarily remembering the look on Michael's face, wincing a little. "He had them locked up in an abandoned prison."

She worked on getting the vest off of him as he talked, tossing it aside as soon as it was off of him. Concerned about the bullet hitting him, she looking for a bruise near the area where it was as attentively listened to him. She found the mark and frowned, running her fingers over it as she looked up at him, eyes wide at what he told her. "Max's worst fear. Those poor people..." She said softly as it all hit her. Those poor people had probably been dissected, experimented on, everything Max had nightmares about happening to him. "How did you get mixed up in all of that?" She asked, her hand flattening over where the bruise was on his chest.
