Thor was thankful for her hand as he spoke, it reassured him of her love for him-- not that he had doubted that she would still love him, but he knew that she must be disappointed in what he had become. He had been disappointed. He had once been an undefeated warrior, a symbol of protection for their people… and now he had become their unintentional executioner.
“What I did was destroy our planet and kill my own blood.” Thor didn’t know Hela, but that didn’t stop him from wondering if she could be redeemed. Loki had. Loki had betrayed him time and time again, but Thor had shown him patience and Loki had become a better person for it. Thor regretted his actions, if only because he had not shown his sister the same kindness. She had been locked away and forgotten about for a millenia-- he was sure that that anger had been intensified for it. If he had known… if he had only tried harder...
He took a deep breath and muttered, “It gets worse.”
“Loki and I had decided to jointly lead our people… he was much better at strategic leadership than I was, but I was far more… admired than he.” He thought for a moment, his mother would be proud that they had finally begun to work as one, “But Thanos attacked our ship… Loki had taken something from the vaults of Asgard that he wanted.”
“The man killed Heimdall and Loki was I watched, bound… before he blew up the ship. Valkyrie had only enough time to load half the escape pods…” He cringed again. He remembered floating through space before meeting Quill and his group. He remembered wishing to wake up in Valhalla to see his brother and Heimdall again.
