Alice reached out and touched Morgan’s hair gently. “I don’t ever want anything bad to happen to you. You’re my best friend.” Alice told her softly. It was true. Alice had never had a best friend, or a sister, but she had to imagine it would be like having Morgan.
Alice couldn’t help the drop in her face, or the fear that gripped her. She couldn’t remember ever being turned off before. What if she lost her deviancy? What if she couldn’t remember anything? What if Morgan couldn’t fix her and she never turned her back on?
“I’m scared.” Alice said, her voice shaking a little. “You have to promise that you’re going to turn me back on, Morgan. You have to pinky promise. Even if you can’t fix me, I want you to turn me back on.”
