Tia had been sound asleep when she heard a familiar voice in her room. It was the same voice she heard in her dream when she got her memories from home and knowledge about where she came from. Uncle Bene! Sitting up, she opened her eyes and rubbed them as she listened.

"Uncle Bene?" She called out into the darkness of her room.

"Yes, Tia! It's me. I need your help. Follow my voice"

Never one to disobey her elders, the ten-year-old got up from the bed and put on her robe, tying it then she put her slippers on. Once she was all ready to go, she spoke out into the room again. "Where am I going?"

"I'll tell you on the way. Just go towards the elevator"

"I'm going to go wake up Tony--" She started but the voice of the older gentleman cut her off.

"There's no time, Tia. You have to come now. I'm in danger"

"I'm on my way" Tia told 'him' as she left her room and then the apartment.

She did as she was told and went towards the elevator. A while later, she was on an entirely different floor and it would seem like she was talking to someone even though no one was there. She was all by herself, not even her cat was with her.

Armed with her cell phone and cigarette lighter, Beverly meant to go find Yennefer and help in whatever battle she intended. She couldn't bear the thought of It hurting anyone again. Her entire body shook with the fear and the need to do something. She didn't know where she was going. She hadn't even told the other woman she was coming. She hadn't sent her texts till after she left her apartment. There was a feeling she had to follow, and she allowed her feet to carry her down dark corridors and into and out of the elevator.

She heard a child's voice and followed it until she found the girl by herself. There was no one else, but that meant very little with Pennywise. Beverly's body was wound tight, ready to fight or fly or both. Her voice, though, was calm when she spoke. "Hi. What are you doing out here all alone? It's late. You should be in bed." Bev's mouth was dry, but no amount of swallowing helped. "It's not safe right now, so we should get you back."

Not expecting to hear another voice, Tia jumped when she heard the woman and turned around to face her. "Hello ma'am" She replied respectfully as she walked towards her. "I know I should be in bed but you see, it's my Uncle. He's here and he needs help. Uncle Bene. He's older, with white hair. Have you seen him?" She asked, stopping in front of her and looking up at her. Her long blonde hair was all over the place from when she was sleeping.

Beverly squatted so she was on the child's level. Her feet remained planted, her legs ready to push up and run. "I have not seen your uncle," she replied gently, "and I have to ask you to trust me. My name is Beverly, but my friends call me Bev. I don't think Uncle Bene is here. I believe you heard him, but it's actually him. I think it's someone pretending to be him. Do you understand?" She didn't want to frighten the girl, and she needed her trust, but the only thing she wanted was to pick the child up and run as far away as she could get.

Tia's eyes followed her as she got down to her level and soon she didn't have to look up as much. That was always appreciated. She liked it when taller people got into her level. "My name is Tia" She told her after the woman introduced herself. It was only polite, after all. As she listened to what she said, the little girl got a confused look on her face. "No" She replied with a shake of her head. She did not understand. "Why would someone pretend to be him?"

"I'm glad to know you, Tia." The small talk was killing her. Beverly's anxiety continued to creep up, and the longer they remained in that corridor, the worse she felt. It had to be near by, she didn't know why he hadn't shown his face. "Sometimes, there are bad people who do bad things to get children to go with them. They promise treats to lure them into vehicles. Or they pretend to be someone we care about to get us to go someplace unsafe. I don't know why they do this, I just know that it's bad, and right now, we have to assume that it's not Uncle Bene." Beverly took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Did anyone tell you about the bad guys who started arriving today?"

Tia's eyes went wide when Bev began talking about predators. She'd been warned about bad people that lure children to go with them and she couldn't believe that she fell for one of their tricks. Her adoptive parents from home would be so disappointed in her. She nodded her head silently when she said they have to assume that it's not Uncle Bene she was hearing. It was all starting to make sense now and there was fear on her face as she put it all together. "I was told they were attacking the city and that we'd be safe inside but it's not safe inside, is it? It's not safe anywhere" She replied, her voice wavering to show she was between wanting to cry and being brave.

"It's safe with the others, as long as you stay with them, and you tell the adults when you hear your uncle Bene or anyone else you know isn't here." Beverly held her hand out to Tia. She knew the precarious situation they were in. She needed this child to trust her while telling her of something that wanted to hurt children.

The elevator behind her dinged, and she glanced back to see the doors opening. At first, there was nothing, then red balloons began drifting out. Beverly stood quickly and put herself squarely between Tia and the elevator. "We have to go now, okay? I want you to stay in front of me. We're going to take the stairs. Don't touch the balloons, okay?"

She nodded her head to show that she understood what she needed to do now. She knew it was wrong of her to leave without telling Dave, Klaus, or Tony what was going on but she believed Uncle Bene when he said there was no time to tell anyone. She would do better next time, if there was a next time. Hopefully, there wouldn't be.

Reaching out for Bev's hand to go with her, she looked behind her when the doors to the elevator opened. She expected to see a person but instead, she saw red balloons. She couldn't tell that wasn't good because they came out of no where and because of how her new friend reacted. Tia tried not to let her fear and confusion get the best of her and she nodded her head again.

"Okay" She turned towards the stair well door and focused on it, her hands going up to her temples as she closed her eyes. Within seconds, the door flew open and Tia gave Bev's hand a tug as she began towards the stairs. "What is with the balloons, Miss Bev?" She asked as they began going down, the door slamming and locking behind them thanks to Tia's power.

Beverly was not expecting the show of powers from Tia and very much relied on the tug the child gave her hand to get her moving. She heard her name whispered behind them, a low growl of warning because she was taking Pennywise's plaything. Fear threatened to creep up her spine--fear of the child's abilities and of the balloons--but she was determined to keep this girl safe, and her instincts told her Tia was good.

The lock on the door wouldn't keep It out, but the echoing click made Bev feel better. "They're Its balloons. They look nice enough, but he uses them to hurt people." She looked down at the girl as they rounded the landing for the third floor. "I don't want to scare you with the details." She heard her name again, but reminded herself that it wasn't real. "My apartment is on the next floor," she said. "I can take you there and we can contact your guardians, or you can stay with me for the night?" She was giving Tia a choice to keep them both focused and thinking about what was in front of them instead of behind.

"I'll never look at balloons the same way again" Tia commented as they got to the landing. She stopped to take a small breather and looked up the stairs. She wanted to see if 'he' wasn't there and that the balloons weren't following after them. She hoped her locking the door would keep them out and it looked like it was so far. Turning back to Bev, Tia shook her head. "I'm just one floor under yours. We can make it, Miss Bev. We just need to keep moving" She wanted to be back in her apartment with her brother and guardians, not somewhere she wasn't familiar with someone she'd just met.

"I daresay you won't," she agreed with a very light laugh. Tia was a bright, brave child, who could potentially hold her own with powers like hers. Not that Beverly would allow that. "Alright. We'll keep going. We'll get you back to your apartment, and we'll make sure your guardians know what's happening."
