WHO: Landon Kirby and Hope Mikaelson
WHERE: An abandoned building on the Lower East Side
WHEN: Tonight, after this
WARNINGS: TBD
SPOILERS? Legacies 2x8?

It hadn't taken too long for the spell to track Hope down, and once it had, Landon had insisted that he come alone. He knew Hope well, and knew that she would be overwhelmed if a bunch of people descended on her all at once. He hoped desperately that his arrival wouldn't freak her out too bad, but he was determined to stay calm about it all, because that was what Hope needed. She needed just the steady knowledge that he needed her and that he loved her.

Picking through the rubble that covered the floor of the chilly inside of the building, he slid his hands in his pockets until he came in sight of her. He looked at her for a long moment without saying anything, then simply sat on a bigger piece of the damage she'd caused here. He didn't need to say anything, or do anything. He'd just sit here until she was ready to talk to him, however long that might be.

And he was prepared for it to be a very long time. But he wasn't going anywhere until she did.

Shifting closer (it felt good to be close, but also he was warm after days in this chilly building by herself), Hope nodded. "I asked Bonnie to take in Lizzie before I left. I don't know if that means I'm alone, or if I got moved... But I'd like to, on one condition. You can't let me hurt you. We don't know how many lives you get, Landon, and I don't like the idea of falling back on that just because I can't control myself."

Landon frowned a little at that. There was so little that he knew about what he was, and how it worked. He'd always kind of assumed he got infinite lives, and so far that had been true. But he didn't have any proof of it. Maybe phoenixes were somehow limited. He desperately wished he knew more about that, but he didn't know any other phoenixes. He didn't even know if there were any others.

"Okay," he said. "Deal. I won't let you. If I can help it." She was way stronger than him and he didn't have magic or anything, but he'd fight with everything he had if she wanted him to.

"I remember phoenix combat," she said dryly, the closest thing to a joke she'd said in weeks. "You probably couldn't if I was really going. I just don't like you being so eager to offer it."

So... this meant she had to go back, didn't it. Her stomach twisted up in knots at the thought of it. "Could we start that before Friday, you think? Like... right now?" One night in this safe bubble before she had to go see people again.

"Oh, yeah, definitely, bad-ass phoenix combat will definitely do the trick." He grinned a little, tentatively, hoping maybe he could bring even a tiny hint of a smile from her, as well.

"We can definitely start that tonight. It's late. There won't be many people up or around, so we can make it to my room without anyone noticing. And you can just stay there, with me."

And no, he didn't mean sex. Even though he was a teenage guy, that wasn't even on his mind right now. He just wanted to help Hope feel better. Holding her all night and keeping her safe from her demons was all he was intending to do.

His dumb joke earned him the barest huff of laughter and a headshake, but it still felt good to her. Normal. As normal as things got.

"I can make us invisible, too, if we need to. I've got months of sneaking in and out of that floor under my belt. Oh, and I can shower there, too." She'd missed showers. Lifting her head for a second, she pressed her lips to his cheek. "Thanks."

"Sure. I mean, I've got t-shirts and stuff you can borrow. I think I've got a pair of sweats that would stay on you?" She'd definitely look awesome in his clothes and he got a little thrill thinking about it.

"Can we go now then? I'm...well, I'm totally freezing. It's miserable in here. You can get a shower and I'll order us some food. Pizza okay?"

"Sounds perfect, thanks." Much better than trying to get her clothes washed and dried while she showered. Pushing up from the floor, she held her hand down to help him up if he wanted it.

"Pizza's good, can you get it from that place I like?" The pizza place Rose had shown her that first day was her favorite, enough that she'd passed the good news on to most everyone. Even though Rose was gone now, it felt like the right thing to keep going there.

Landon took her head and stood, keeping hold of her hand even after he was up.

"Definitely. Of course. Wouldn't have thought of getting it from anywhere else. And some of those cheesesticks too. Those things are addictive."

He squeezed her hand tightly, and started walking towards the door of the filthy, damaged building. Things weren't perfect for Hope yet, he knew that. But it felt good just to know that she was with him again, and that she'd let them work things out together, maybe.
