Anna Zhu
Jeremy Gilbert
Who: Anna Zhu and Jeremy Gilbert
What: Reuniting
Where: Central Park
When: Tuesday December 31
“Please,” Anna wheezed out, as John stood over her with the stake in his hand. He knew who she was, he knew how intertwined she was with his nephew and if he carried in him half the kindness that the rest of the family did, surely he would spare her. But, he knew as he glared at her, as he gripped the stake, that he was nothing like the rest of Gilberts. She shut her eyes, not wanting to see it come down on her…. But it never came.

Anna’s eyes lazily opened, and she was looking up at a tree top? For the first time in her 500 year’s she had no recollection of how she got from basement to here. She had seen Damon stirring awake, had he saved her? She would have remembered being picked up, surely, but the vervain was twisting in her system making everything harder. She still couldn’t sit up. She was weak. Her brain was foggy. She didn’t see Damon or any other vampires around. Had she gone unconscious? Why would he have left her in a park?

Her body and her arms felt heavy, but she could feel them now, which was better than before. She was able to pull out her phone, but she couldn’t get her thoughts to cooperate. She had to text Jeremy, to tell him, just in case Damon didn’t get out.

She didn’t realize that it would go to some network she barely understood. But when Jeremy did finally responded, she felt better. She trusted Jeremy. She waited for him, and found herself having an even more confusion conversation with Damon. Forcing herself to take several deep breaths as feeling started to come back into her limbs.

Anna wanted to focus on what Jeremy had been saying about an entity and the Bennetts, but everything froze when he finally got his last sentence out. She could almost feel it-- the paralyzation as John stood over her with the stake in his hands. He had killed her mother, and he had killed her, just like Pearl had implied he would. ‘Nothing good comes from a Gilbert’ her mother had said, but she had been talking about Jeremy and his ancestors.

“John killed me.” There was a flash of white hot anger, that was replaced by ice and fear and sadness. Anna choked out a sob and tears fell down her face. She wanted to push Jeremy away and cling to him. She didn’t know what to do and it felt like every emotion in the world was running through her all at once. She felt burst and empty.

“He killed my mom, and then he killed me, and I swear that if I ever see him I will enjoy the pleasure of pulling him apart slowly until he knows just a fraction of the pain that I’ve felt at his hands.” Anna’s words were low and dark, the veins flexing across her face and her eyes going black. She would enjoy destroying him--- which is not a thought that Anna had very often at all.

The sob broke his heart and he reached out to pull her into a hug. He pressed his face against the top of her head as he tried to be there for her. Learning you died wasn't an easy thing. Hell, he had known he was dead when he arrived and it still sucked. He still had dreams that felt so real. He could feel the blood leaving his body as his neck screamed in agony. He woke up with a silent scream on his lips every time. Dying really fucked with a person's head.

"I know," was all he said as he sat there holding her. His Uncle had deserved his fate and he prayed the man never showed up in Goodland. There would be several people wanting to rip his head from his shoulders. Jer was with them on that one. John didn't deserve some second chance here. He deserved to burn in Hell.

"I'm sorry. I didn't want... people can be pretty blunt about the future here or be annoyingly tight-lipped. I just- I wanted you to hear it from someone that loves you."

He tightened his arms around her and squeezed his eyes shut. "How do I help you? Tell me what you need."
