It was six in the evening on New Year's Eve and Liz was getting ready with Max for Tony's party. She was glad she'd given them extra time because they'd gotten a bit preoccupied in the shower and they were in there way longer than they needed to be. Once they had gotten themselves together and washed up, they exited the shower and Liz wrapped a towel around her upper body. The last thing she needed was Michael walking in on her completely naked. She'd be so embarrassed and never live that down. "We should head up to the roof close to midnight. I hear there's going to be fireworks" She told him as she began her hair care routine. With her hair as thick and long as it was, it wasn't something that could be done right before they went. It took time.

Lucky for him, his hair care routine was little more than running a comb through his hair, so they didn't have to fight for real estate at the sink. "Sounds like a plan," he agreed with the thought of going up to the roof at midnight. He didn't care about fireworks one way or the other, but watching fireworks on New Year's Eve with Liz would be nice. He kind of thought it would be a perfect scenario for what he wanted to do tonight, but on second thought there might be a bunch of people up there, and he wanted a quiet moment, just the two of them.

Maybe he'd do it now, before they went to Tony's get together. He hadn't made up his mind yet, though he was leaning more toward now. Then she cold show off the ring at dinner. Assuming she said yes. She might not.

"Tony said the attire is comfy" She told him so he could start getting ready while she did her thing in the bathroom. She would get ready later and already had her outfit laid out. "Which is fortuitous because I can just wear a sweater and no one will ask any questions" She pointed out, grinning at him a little bit through the reflection of the mirror.

She was sporting a freshly made glowy handprint on her chest from a few nights ago that she would rather not explain. It was personal to them and no one really needed to know about it. She had asked him to do it because she wanted to go into 2020 feeling completely connected to him. Being emotionally, physically, and mentally connected to the man she loved was her drug of choice right now. So far she'd been able to hide it every time he put it on her and she planned to keep it that way. What a fun challenge that would be in the summer.

"Then comfy we shall be." Max tugged his pants on. He hadn't bothered with his shirt yet, but he slipped into the bedroom to retrieve a small box from his drawer. he slid it into his pocket.

He was definitely going to ask her now. Before they went to the party. He didn't want to wait, and he thought she might want to show off the ring at dinner. Maybe. She wasn't really a flashy person, but this was different.

At least he hoped it would be different.

When he went into the bedroom to get dressed, she got a wave of anxiety and nervousness from him and she frowned a little bit. She assumed it was because of where they were going and responded as such. "You don't have to be nervous, Max. Tony approves of you" She told him from the bathroom as she did her hair. Not only was Tony her boss but he was a fatherly figure to her, especially since he looked after her when she was a teenager. He was very much a welcomed presence in her life.
