It had been a beautiful day and Markus couldn't have hoped for a warmer welcome for both himself and his android family. It had given him a lot to think about, with the traditions and meanings finally extended to his people, he finally found himself feeling the spirit of the season. Watching the joy in Morgan's face had been infectious and he found himself understanding why these gatherings meant so much to families.
Markus knew Alice was missing Kara and Luther and Connor was missing Hank, but he hoped that the raucous Starks helped to show them they were wanted just as much here as in Detroit. He had to believe they felt it, because he knew he did.
Though the day was wonderful, he found himself looking forward to the evening when he and Morgan could share a little time alone together. As fun as the mayhem was, there was a peace that came with just the two of them and Markus craved it a little more each time they were together.
When her knock came, he jumped to answer the door and pulled her into a loving hug. "Merry Christmas," he said, for possibly the hundredth time that day, but this time Markus gave it every bit the emphasis of 'I love you' as he held her tight. "I wasn't sure you'd manage to escape," he said with a soft peck on Morgan's lips, "but I'm glad you did." He stood back to let her into the apartment, feeling blessed that his life had taken this incredible curve.
