WARNINGS: talks of blood
SPOILERS? some for legacies

There was something overwhelming about New Orleans. The mere air seemed to be alive with something and it made his senses threaten to go haywire. So Sebastian had managed to venture outside of the apartments, but now he found himself on an iron bench. His legs were stretched out, ankles crossed, while he had an arm resting along the back of the bench. Life seemed to be thriving around him.

I still don't trust you.

Sebastian tsked faintly as he brought his daylight ring up to his lips. He let the cool metal distract him from darker thoughts as he tried to figure out what he was going to do for food in this place. The temptation to rip throats out was ever-present in the depths of his mind, but he knew he couldn't. Cassandra had desiccated him once and he doubted the people in this Goodland would do the same. They'd merely stake him and be done with the matter. Ric had mentioned the Salvatore School was around and he already knew he would most likely amuse himself by attending there. What else was he to do? The world had changed so dramatically in his time in the coffin. Also, if he recalled correctly the school had strange little bags of blood he could partake of, which was far better than having to hunt animals down.

He was yanked from his thoughts as a small colorful ball rolled up against his foot. Sebastian raised an eyebrow before he leaned down to retrieve the toy. His pale eyes focused on the child who had lost said toy. He flashed a friendly smile before tossing the ball back. The child gave him an awkward smile of thanks before scampering off. The world had changed very much indeed. As he leaned back against the bench his brows furrowed in annoyance.

"I can feel you watching me," he said in a conversational tone. "Have I broken some taboo in this place I am not aware of?" He did not bother to look towards whoever was watching him, but went back to watching the world in front of him. The vibrancy nearly hurt his eyes and he wanted to retreat to the room he shared with Landon. That being said, he would rather face the world than deal with the turnip at the moment.

It was strange, having a friend like Hope, and not because she wasn't human, but because she was a girl. Hope was pretty much her best friend in Goodland, but even if Ty was still around, it would still be strange. For a girl who hadn't had any friends for something like eight years, having one had been a heady experience. But two? Two was almost inconceivable.

Yet here she was, and the fact that she was in her hometown made the experience ven more surreal.

She had spent the morning shopping with her and then separated after they had gotten their purchases, with Tandy heading back towards the villa alone. Her steps slowed when she wasn't too far away, watching the exchange between the kid and the - teenager? - who threw the ball back, and she didn't mean to stare, not even realizing she had been until he spoke. While she could've shrugged and kept walking, Tandy wasn't one to back down from a challenge when she was in the mood, and so she stopped.

"Not that I can tell. Are you trying to?" Okay, so she couldn't tone down the sass all that much, but that's just the way she was.

He looked at the girl and a slow smile appeared on his. Sebastian gave a faint shrug before turning his gaze back to the world moving around them. "Not at the moment, no. I am rather content to just soak in the sounds and sights of this place. It is fascinating." There was a faint accent in his voice as he spoke that he did little to mask. He had no need to hide what or who he was here as far as he knew.

"This place is so alive."

He ran his thumb over his lip as he found himself wondering, yet again, what he was going to do to survive in this place. No one knew him except Landon and he was sure that the turnip would whine and complain until others turned against him. Sebastian had snapped the boy's neck and it seemed there was a grudge to be had because of such actions.

"Ah," he said suddenly. "Where are my manners? I am Sebastian," he turned towards her with a charming smile.

"Keeping your options open for later, huh?" She remarked with an arched eyebrow as she studied him. Tandy wondered about the accent, but only in an offhand way, a part of her mind idly trying to see if she could figure out for herself where he was from.

The comment surprised her, and she nodded before she could help it. "It is. Not everyone gets that, actually. A lot of people - tourists, I guess - think it's creepy and mysterious." When the introduction came a few seconds later, she blinked, then gave a wry smile.

"Hi again, then. I'm Tandy. We talked on the network."

"Of course." Sebastian was amused by her attitude "One must always keep options open else they will grow dreadfully bored." The Puritans had been boring to an extent, but they had also been fascinating in their hypocrisy. All proper in public, but behind closed doors, they were quite different. Cassandra was the only reason he had not corrupted the girls in Roanoke. He had honestly loved her, worshiped the ground she waltzed upon, and even he was not cruel enough to toy with her heart in such a manner.

He flourished a bow with his hand from where he was sitting and finished the motion with a smile.

"A pleasure to meet you in the flesh, Miss Tandy. I take it you are not a, what did you say the word was, tourist? This is your home, which I do not feel is creepy at all. Perhaps a tad bit mysterious, it feels like this place has stories."

"Yeah, I bet." Her eyes never left him, though she did stare for just a moment when he bowed. He was definitely from a weird time, which confused her since he apparently knew Hope and others from her world. This was all kind of weird.

"You too," she replied. He definitely resembled Harry some, but without the eyeliner and the pirate clothes. After a minute, she walked over and sat on the other end of the bench while studying him curiously.

"Definitely not. I'm from here - well, not this exact version, I guess, since none of the people I know are here. But I'm from New Orleans - born and raised." Her smile warmed just a little, at the edges of her smile.

"And you're right, it does. A friend of mine knows a good one about vampire nuns. And there's all the different vodou stories and stuff, about things the city's gone through. Plus, there's always Marie Laveau and Madame LaLaurie, or the Divine Pairings that save the city every century or two." The last part came across as a little glib, but considering she was part of a Divine Pairing and still missed her best friend, she just tried to keep those feelings down for now.

When she sat down he did his best not to tense up at the closeness. Sebastian ran his finger over his daylight ring as a means of distraction and merely flashed Tandy a smile. He had spent quite a bit putting distance between himself and others thanks to the fact he was thirsty. With that thought, he pulled a flask free of his pocket so he could dampen the hunger. With a flick of his fingers, the cap was off and he was taking a long swig of the alcohol.

"It seems a bit cruel to let you experience home without it being home, does it not? I shudder to think we might all end up in my village." No one needed to go to Roanoke. He twisted the cap back on the flask before holding it out to Tandy.

"Vampire nuns sounds rather interesting," he admitted in an amused tone. An eyebrow raised upward as she spoke of Divine Pairings. "Are these Divine Pairings supposed to be great loves or merely just people that have to be saviors? It seems like a rather intense calling." Sebastian knew basically nothing about this city, but it did fascinate him. He wanted to go find a witch or five here to talk with. They would be able to tell him many tales.

"Do you think we shall stay here much longer? I have heard tell we have a different place we are normally forced to exist."

Her gaze fell to the flask as she shrugged at the question. "Some of the same places are here. And it's not like there are too many people missing me back there anyway, so I wouldn't be looking for a lot of people around here. Only like...four." When the flask was offered, she flashed a smile of thanks and slung the bag over the bench, then took it without hesitation. It wouldn't be her first alcoholic drink by any means, nor her last.

After taking a sip, Tandy glanced back over to Sebastian and returned the flask. "They weren't real vampires or anything. Just - women who'd been snuck into the city who didn't make the boat journey here too well. Sex trafficking in colonial times." The question about Divine Pairings had her snorting a bit, and Tandy shook her head.

"Not really. It's just usually a guy and a girl who do something to save the city. One of them lives, the other dies almost every time." Except the last time, with her and Ty. They'd both survived, and she didn't know if that changed anything. "I've...heard it's pretty intense." Tandy replied. That was a total lie - she knew from experience.

"We've already been here a pretty good amount of time, so...we're probably going back sometime soon." Looking up and over their surroundings, Tandy took a deep breath, then let it go again. "It doesn't feel quite the way it should, so I guess that's okay.
