Peter & Tony
WHO: Tony Stark & Peter Parker
WHERE: Starts here & finishes in APT. 2-A
WHEN: Saturday, June 14th, evening
WARNINGS: Language
SPOILERS? Everything through Infinity War

Tony was a science guy, but he also worked with gods and fought aliens so it wasn't like the concept of alternate universes completely threw him for a loop, but he also just watched some random galaxy wanderers, a doctor doubling as a wizard, and his favorite kid turn to dust so forgive him if he doubted his sanity for a second.

"The actual fuck," he muttered not for the first time since that damn dry note smacked him in the face in the middle of a damn thunder storm. Was Thor showing off? Or was this finally the time Tony Stark became an official raving lunatic? Tony actually considered that option better than Thanos defeating him. If he had gone mad, at least everyone was safe. It wasn't like he didn't have similar dreams before, right? Hadn't he seen his loved ones dead before only to wake up in a cold sweat? The whole Goodland thing could just be a crazy dream.

After Tony failed to contact Pepper, he tried to walk home, but while he knew his way around New York City, he quickly realized it wasn't the city he recalled. Maybe this was part of Thanos' plan? Maybe if he went where the note told him, he'd find the others? At least if he was with them, he could try to save them.

That had to be it. Tony was wherever the dusted went and he had to go to the apartment listed in the letter. The thought energized him and he broke out in a run until he arrived where the map directed him. Ostriches? Seriously?

Tony found Apartment 2-A with a door that opened automatically for him, almost like it expected Tony, and stepped inside. Disappointment flooded him. It didn't look like a hostage situation, but instead a homey apartment with a fully stocked fridge. Hell, there were even clothes he'd choose for himself. He, again, guessed he was either crazy or really stuck in a parallel universe while everyone he loved faced danger at home.

It was too much even for Tony Stark. Way too much loss. Way too much responsibility. He pulled off his Iron Man suit and slammed it against the wall, but it didn't even make a dent. "Naturally," he said. He left the suit on the floor. He usually valued neatness, but to hell with it. Nothing mattered anymore. He pulled dry sweats on before throwing himself face down on the bed in what he guessed was his room. It did have the clothes that looked like his, after all.

“I did?” he said, perking up just a bit and dropping his hands from Mr. Stark’s arms. A smile started turning up the corners of his mouth, glad to hear that the wizard had been saved. Hearing that he’d helped Mr. Stark and this… Dr. Strange didn’t hurt in brightening his mood. He almost asked how he’d helped, but his brain got momentarily snagged on the idea that they’d come from different times. Did that mean time travel was possible, or did that mean this entity thing had the ability to see multiple points in a universe’s timeline? What type of entity could do that? Was it omniscient? It had to be, right? There were just so many unanswered questions, not the least of which what happened in his world when he wasn’t there? (Apparently, nothing if he’d managed to save the wizard. Did that make him a clone somehow? A copy of himself that had somehow made a different decision and ended up here? Or was he dead? No. No, he would not go down that route. Not right now. That was just too much for even him to consider right then.)

Trying hard to push the questions out of his head, Peter nodded a little bit at Mr. Stark’s words. “Yeah… I could eat.” He hadn’t really eaten much since earlier in the day, and the thought of eating something sounded good. So did changing into real clothes. “And you’re not helpless, Mr. Stark,” he said, complete and total faith in the man before him evident in his words. “Besides, I can make grilled cheese sandwiches, or mac and cheese, if you’d like,” he added, glad that he had at least a little bit of skill in the kitchen. He was no chef, but he at least could follow directions. Plus, in his opinion, cooking (and baking, for that matter) was a bit like science. You just followed the recipe, kept an eye on it as you went, and, viola! Food! Really not that difficult at all (though it could be time consuming, which was really the only bad side to cooking; all the waiting).

Tony was relieved that he seemed to distract Peter although he knew it was only a matter of time before he learned the truth. Tony had to be the one to do it, didn't he? But it could wait, couldn't it? He had the kid back and that was what mattered. If Pepper and Rhodey and Happy where there too, it would be just about perfect. However, he couldn't stand the faith he heard in Peter's voice. It was like when Peter told Tony that he wanted to be like him. Peter was already so much better than Tony. He could do so much good with his mind and his heart; it hurt Tony thinking his real world was robbed not only of Spider-Man, but Peter Parker.

Tony chuckled. "We are good to go then. Grilled cheese and chips, what's better?" Booze was better, but Tony thought getting drunk wasn't such a good idea anymore. "I can make coffee. Do you drink coffee? No, you are too young for coffee. Or too hyper. Something like that." He turned toward the kitchen, but stopped. "Kid..." He suddenly turned back and wrapped his arms around Peter. "We are there now," he said more gently than he ever thought possible.

Peter opened his mouth to say that he was sixteen, and therefore, not too young for coffee, but the hug caught him off guard. “Oh,” he said, then wrapped his arms around Tony in response, careful not to squeeze too hard. He wasn’t sure what he’d done to deserve the hug, but it was nice. Hugs were nice. He let his eyes drift shut briefly, enjoying the moment. Somehow, he wasn’t so sure he’d get another one anytime soon (and with May nowhere to be found in this reality, he doubted he’d be getting much hugs in general, which was fine, really, but, sometimes, hugs were just nice).

“This is nice,” he said, his brain calming down for the first time since he saw that donut shaped ship above Manhattan.

It was nice. Tony didn't really have a problem with affection. No, his problem was with trust, which is why only a few ever actually infiltrated Tony's personal space. "Yeah," Tony agreed. He squeezed Peter once before releasing him. He averted his eyes once more; he didn't need Peter getting suspicious - or, possibly, more suspicious. "Go on," he prodded. "Change. I promise not to burn the place down."

“Okay.” Peter pulled away, turning. He took a few steps before stopping, turning back around. “Mr. Stark? I’m glad you’re here, too,” he said. If he had to be stuck in some alternate universe with anyone, he was glad it was Tony Stark. He worried about his aunt and his friends (were they okay? Did they know he was gone? Who would tell May if he were? Would she be okay?), but at least he wasn’t alone. At least he had someone to share this insanity with.

Smiling brightly, Peter then went off in search of a room with clothes (and underwear) that were hopefully in size.
