Tea & Lizzie
WHO: Lizzie & Tea
WHAT: Interview
WHEN: Backdated to last week
WARNINGS: Nah
SPOILERS: Likely not.
STATUS: Threading

The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.
Lizzie liked Tea. Sure, the girl was younger than she was, but Tea had an air of maturity, like she had seen things others her age had not. Not to mention Lizzie always wanted a younger sister. She loved Matt, her brother, but the dude aggravated her too. Needless to say, Lizzie was happy when Tea requested one of the positions at Lizzie's new company, L. McGuire Designs. She was even more excited that Tea seemed to have a genuine interest in design and didn't just want a job.

She was meeting Tea at her apartment. No need for formalities; they'd already gone dancing together, after all. She put on a pot of coffee, but also had water, soda, and a cheese and crackers plate on hand. Sure, they weren't at the office, but she wanted to make a good impression on her potential employee. Tea may have been coming in to interview, but Lizzie felt like she was auditioning too. Would she be a good boss? She hoped so.

Believe it or not, there was more to Tea Marvelli than clubbing and parties. It was just the cool persona she chose to show off in the network and in public. Below the surface, she was so much more than that. She was all about being straight forward and her authentic self, she just didn't show all sides of herself to everyone. Being vulnerable was not fun so she decided a long time ago that being a mystery was better than letting people in the entire way.

One thing only a few people there knew about her was her love to draw. When she saw Lizzie needed an assistant, she decided that it would be a pretty cool job that maybe she could incorporate her hobby in it. And who knew, maybe she would even be good at it. There was only one way find out but first she needed to get a portfolio together. It wasn't going to be professional by any means, as most of her drawings were on scraps of notebook paper due to having no sketch pad ( though did now thanks to those elves ), but it would be enough to show off what she could do.

Once it was put together, she got changed out of her school clothes and into something more interview worthy with her own Tea flare of combat boots on her feet. After she touched up her makeup, she grabbed her things and headed down a floor to Lizzie's place, knocking on the door as she had many times before. She considered the girl a friend and that helped her not be so nervous.

Lizzie didn't make Tea wait long before opening the door. She grinned at the younger woman as she stood aside for Tea could move into the room when she was ready. "You look so pretty!" Lizzie admired how Tea made clothing her own. Lizzie might have reworn clothes, but she always changed outfits up with accessories and shoes. It was a way of expressing herself, much like, she suspected, Tea did. "Do you want something to drink? I put on coffee, but I have the normal stuff too."

"I woke up like this" Tea joked with a grin of her own as she walked in. She would have put a leather jacket on too but since she wasn't going outside to go from apartment to apartment, she didn't need to. The young girl didn't have to think much about her answer to Lizzie's questions about what she wanted to think. "I'll take some coffee. Got any creamer?" She wondered, standing where she was just inside the door because she wasn't sure where Lizzie wanted to do the interview.

"Yes, yes, of course!" Lizzie's nerves were making her forget her manners. "Here, go ahead and sit," she added, gesturing to the couch. "I'll grab the coffee and the creamer." She dashed into the kitchen and returned a moment later with the aforementioned items on a small tray. She handed a steaming cup of coffee to Tea along with a spoon to stir the cream in. "How was school? Boring?"

While Lizzie went into the kitchen to get the coffee, Tea sat down on the couch and put her portfolio down on the coffee table. With her hands free, she reached down to get her boots off and put them away, showing off her plain socks. She wasn't really a colorful socks kind of girl. She preferred to show off her personality in other ways. Putting her books aside, she sat back as Lizzie came back and she took the coffee from her. "Thanks" She put in a healthy amount of cream in and stirred if up as she sat back. "You said it" She commented with a little laugh. "So you got an entire business from the elves? All I got was a sketch pad and pencils. You definitely got the better deal"

Lizzie giggled. "I think the entity just wants to get paid." She cocked her head, a thoughtful expression crossing her face. "Although does an entity even need money? Where does the rent go?" She hadn't thought about it until that moment, but now she was curious. However, she suspected, like everything else, that question would remain unanswered. "Speaking of pay, I was thinking $16.00 per hour. Are you alright with that?" She wanted to start her off higher than minimum wage, but she couldn't afford much more than the little extra she offered.

Tea just shrugged at that, a look of 'I have no idea' on her face. She tried not to think too much about the entity because it was some magical being that she didn't really understand. She just lived her life and enjoyed herself. There wasn't much else she could really do. She laughed a little in shock when she said the wage and she smiled. "Definitely. I mean that's way more than what I was figuring you'd give me" She'd take whatever but $16 an hour would be great too. "It'll be after school, obviously, with the exception of holiday and summer breaks. I'm a junior currently"

"Of course," Lizzie agreed. "It looks like I'll have three of you so that works perfectly. I'll need help around the office, but, I think you'll do well in the field with me too. May I see the drawings?"

"Oh yeah? Who are the other ones?" Tea asked as she grabbed her coffee again. Taking another sip, she put it down and began speaking her drawings out on the coffee table for Lizzie to see. There are some of her friends from home, some doodles done on notebook paper that were done when she should have been paying attention in class, and some tasteful ones of girls she'd been with. "I can draw other things too, people are just my favorite subject" She told her as she sat back.

"I think Allison and Neo at least," Lizzie replied. "Maybe Anna." She smiled down at the drawings, giving each one rapt attention. "You are so good," she praised. "Do you want to make art when you finish school?" She paid particular attention to the people. "I can really get a feel for these," she added. "They must be special to you."

"You've got assistants coming out of your nose" Tea joked with a small laugh. It was good that she had more than one since Tea's hours would be limited with school. She was fine with not being the only one because money was money. Tea had to think about her question about art school and it showed. "I hadn't really ever thought about before but yeah, that would be cool" She replied with a nod of her head. Leaning forward, she gestured to some of the random girls. "I couldn't even tell you their names, but these two" She pointed to the more detailed ones. "Those are two of my friends from home. Michelle, my best friend" She said, pointing to the one laying down. "And Cadie, who I'll be honest is kind of a mystery to me but I dig her chill vibe"

Lizzie could definitely get a feel for the girls Tea showed her. She wasn't just being nice; she meant the compliment about art school. She couldn't help chuckling when Tea mentioned she couldn't remember everyone she drew. To be young! However, Lizzie's expression grew more serious when Tea mentioned two girls, who clearly meant something to her. "How long have you know them?" Lizzie had a hard enough time being in Goodland without any of her friends and family from home so she could only imagine how much more difficult it was for someone Tea's age.

"Michelle since fifth grade. I'd gone to a Jewish day school since Kindergarten and begged my parents to let me to go regular school. I finally got to and I met 'Chelle my first day. Let's just say by the end of it, we were getting in trouble for taking in class" She told her with a laugh, fondness on her voice as she reached out and touched her drawing on Michelle. She missed her like crazy.

"And Cadie?" She asked, looking over to the other drawing. She had to think about that one. She shrugged her shoulders as she answered. "Couldn't tell ya. She's just always been around and in my class, you know? Before I got here we were trying to get her to hook up with my friend Stanley cause he hadn't lost his vcard yet" This definitely wasn't interview talk but she felt comfortable enough with Lizzie to tell her all of this. They were friends, after all.

Lizzie giggled. "Sounds like me and Gordo. Poor guy was always so awkward. It is why we got along!" Wistfulness tinged her voice as she spoke about her old friend. When was the last time she'd seen Gordo? Life happened, but...she missed him. She definitely missed him. "Anyway, yeah! Definitely something Miranda would put us up to. Cadie sounds a bit like her."

Tea smiled at that. "Looks like we both have a Stanely in our lives" She told her as she sat back, picking up her coffee again. Sitting back, she sipped at it again to test the temp then she drank a bit more when she saw it had cooled down. Cupping it in her hands, she curls her legs up as she drank and listened to her. "Is it just the three of you? There's a whole group of us back home. Me, Michelle, Daisy, Abudd, Tony, Chris, Stanley, and Cadie. It's a hard job keeping those boys in line but we manage to do it somehow"

"Miranda actually moved away," Lizzie told her. "I've known Gordo since we were, like, a day old though. As many people come and go, he has always been there." She cleared her throat. "Anyway, you are hired obviously!" She needed to change the subject. Thinking about Gordo made her chest tighten.
