Goodland was a mind trip. Dealing with Aunt Jenna being alive was one thing, but the sudden appearance of Bonnie was like a breaking point for him. Okay, not quite that, but damn close. He was already having to deal with Hope being a Mikaelson, Elena and Damon being older and human, and the whole Ric was human. So, of course, Bonnie would show up to add to his already confusing life.

He frowned as he leaned against the wall near the lobby door as he glanced at his nails. There had been a time where would have put some black polish on his nails as a means of rebelling. God, Damon was right, he had been annoyingly emo. He was still plotting revenge for the whole My Chemical Romance episode the other day. Damon was such a jerk sometimes, but Jer actually kind of appreciated the behavior. The teasing, tormenting, whatever, helped distract him from the urge to just fall into the bottom of a bottle. The urge was there. Actually, the urge was growing more and more thanks to Bonnie arriving. Talking to her had been awkward and short.

He let out a sigh before crossing his arms over his chest as he waited for Kitty. He honestly didn't know why he had invited her to go with him, but there was no taking the invite back now. The young hunter honestly did want some art supplies so he could hole up in his room as he sketched the nightmares in his head, but he couldn't exactly tell anyone that. They'd want him to go see a therapist or something. Get your life together, Jer. It's a trainwreck.

His teeth bit into his lower lip as he pulled his phone free to check the time and double-check the map feature on his phone was working. Supposedly the walk to the art store wasn't that bad. The sound of the stairway door opening had him looking up. It was the tiny dragon that gave her away and Jer could only stare for a moment.

"That...is fucking awesome."

Most of his worries were pushed aside for the moment as he eyed the tiny creature with interest. The sketches he could do...

"Yeah? Well, that makes me feel a hell of a lot less strange." Not that there was anything remotely 'normal' about Kitty's life, but it was oddly comforting that he got it, even if she didn't have any context as to how.

Kitty looked around at the city in front of them and smirked again at his comment about fighting in an alleyway. "I may or may not already know that I enjoy beating up thugs in an alleyway." Becoming an X-Man at fourteen had given her more than enough experience in that area. "But I do like movies. I haven't watched many horror ones since coming here, though. What other things do you like about this not so shitty city?"

Kitty could feel herself relaxing a bit, too, and it was a refreshing change. "You mentioned needing sketchbooks, so we should at least pick some of those up, and some pencils for my new coloring book." She also needed to pick up some decorations, since she had offered to do so for John, but she could do that before heading back to the apartment. "I came here in October. How about you?"

Jeremy couldn't help a slight laugh as she admitted to enjoying beating people up in alleyways. He glanced at her with slight interest as he tried to figure just why she was beating people up. Maybe she was a vigilante or something? Not that he was really going to ask, despite being super curious. "I mean I enjoy other types of movies, but horror suits my mood lately. Uh, as for this shitty city?" That gave him pause since he hadn't actually explored much yet. Holing up in his room had been more his style.

"I actually need to explore more," he finally admitted. "I arrived right before Thanksgiving. Just in time for awkward family Thanksgiving dinner. Most people are from my future which is...different." He let out a sigh as he thought about his Aunt Jenna. She was having a rough time with this whole thing too if the empty bottles of wine were any proof. That and the relentless music she played on a loop. He wanted to shove pencils in his ears to block out the sound sometimes.

"Still getting used to this place."

Jer gave a shrug as if brushing off the drama in his life. "Figure I need to focus on my art instead of moping in my room nonstop. Though that is a great way to avoid everyone. Pretty sure Damon will break my door down if I hide any longer...the ass."

When Jeremy said he needed to explore more, Kitty could relate. She could count on one hand the number of places she had gone to in Goodland. Then he was talking about the people he knew here, and how awkward Thanksgiving was, and she was relating to him on another level. Except, for Kitty, the awkward big 'happy' family existed back home. Goodland was her reprieve. "Nothing says holidays like family drama."

"Yeah, me too. It's been weeks, and I'm still not used to it? It's easier just to mope in my room. I've perfected the art of avoiding." She wasn't just talking about avoiding people; it was also easier to ignore everything going on in her head if she didn't have to face any of it. At least John hadn't pressured her to acclimate and moving in with him, and Rogue was helping. But, it didn't sound like Jeremy had that luxury.

"I don't know if I want to get used to it," Jer grumbled slightly. Everything was wrong and upside down in this place. "But life isn't fair." His family was probably just going to just do whatever they wanted and he'd be along for the ride. That was a rough thought, but kind of par for the course for his life. He grimaced faintly before sighing.

"Sorry, that was a depressing thought. We should probably go back to talking about figuring what you like. Maybe sometime we could go to a mall... if there is one here? And just mallrat it out." Jeremy snorted slightly before a laugh escaped him.

"Jesus, I can't actually remember the last time I went to a mall. There wasn't really a mall back home and it wasn't my scene...small town, large problems."

"Yeah, no shit," Kitty grumbled. She shared Jeremy's 'life isn't fair' sentiment. She did, however, want to attempt to get used to this place. Maybe she should be fighting it harder? But, she didn't have any desire to return to the Institute- at least not yet.

"We could start a club, the Depressing Thoughts Club. With excursions to the mall," she laughed then- which made Lockheed perk up a little. He always worried too much about Kitty and appreciated moments like this. "I wouldn't be opposed to mall-ratting out. Distractions and all that."

"Large problems?" Kitty asked curiously. That was certainly a theme she could relate to.
