Who: Sam & Severus
What: working on Sam's brain
When: after this
Where: Snape's place
Warnings: TBD
Exactly what Snape was planning, Sam didn't know. The risk of unconsciousness was a real danger, given the fact that it had happened once already. The others he could have gone to probably would have been much gentler and kinder about it, but for some reason that made Sam more inclined to go to Snape; he didn't want sympathy or pity, he just wanted results. More than that, he was more familiar with the magic in the Harry Potter books than whatever powers Peter Petrelli had, and even though he'd mended bridges with Anna, he wasn't terribly inclined to entrust his mind to an angel after what he'd seen happen to him on the show. He would probably be contacting one or both of them for help eventually, but first he wanted to try strengthening his own mental defenses before going to someone that might simply be able to fix the problem for him.
Because there was no fix, not really. If Death couldn't keep those memories back forever, then Sam doubted anyone else had the power to do it. It was up to Sam's mind to take care of the problem, and if there was any way for him to do that, he was going to find it and take care of it. Falling apart, becoming useless or insane, wasn't an option. He didn't want to go mad, but more importantly, Dean needed him to hold it together. If he fell apart, Dean would do the same.
He left a note for Dean and took the Civic to Snape's place, just to make sure that he got there in time. The tank had been halfway full when he'd found it and hotwired it the first time, but it was nearing empty now; he could probably get more, but there wasn't likely to be much point if they were all jumping into some hellish portal. That was something that Sam definitely needed to be conscious and capable for, in order to protect all the civilians and the others that had no idea what they could be getting themselves into. Not that he had any more idea than they did, but he knew enough about gods and portals to know that their chances of it being good were slim to none.
Parking, he headed for Snape's door and knocked on it. Whatever else happened tonight, he should at least have more information. That was always worth having.
