Sirius found himself sporting an awfully crooked smile when Remus said that he hadn't been expecting all of this, because really, that was the point. He hadn't gone out of his way to surprise Moony, not at all, but if he had expected everything that Sirius was doing then it would have taken a lot of fun out of it. He continued to drag Remus through tables, his eyes set on a particular one that he had already prepared for the night, before he felt the sudden but gentle tug on his hand, grabbing his attention and stopping him from his concentrated path. He looked back at Remus curiously, and when he moved in to kiss Sirius softly he returned it, parting with the most ridiculous grin on his face. It only made sense for Remus to kiss him, obviously, so why he liked it that much was beyond him. Sirius had received many kisses before. But he liked that one. That one made him blush.
"Don't thank me, it was no trouble at all. Really." He gave him a convincing look before stealing one last kiss and tugging Remus to their table again. "Besides, it's your birthday, you really expected me to have done nothing? I'm not that bad." He squeezed Remus' hand softly before finally pulling his chair out for him, and pressing his lips to the werewolf's cheek before muttering, "I'll be right back."
He disappeared in the kitchen, coming back a few moments later with their food, and he set them on the table before sitting down across from the other man. The table was set carefully, and a bottle of red was standing beside their plates which Sirius took the liberty of opening and pouring them both a glass. "Eat. We'll talk about how amazing I am after you're done." Another crooked smile was offered before he started on his own plate, and by the time he was done his glass of wine had already been emptied. He poured again, glancing over at Remus' glass to see it hadn't been touched yet, and he grinned, amused. "You know, one glass of wine isn't going to knock you off your arse, Lupin." He gave Remus a look but before he could answer, Sirius had already bent down and reached under the table.
"Alright." He began, returning to his upright position to face the man across from him. "I'd just like to say, first, that it's completely unfair that I had to be the first one out of the three of us to try and find a significant gift on someone's birthday in a city where we can pretty much just grab anything we need. That being said," He carefully placed a wrapped package before Remus after pushing his empty plate aside. "Happy Birthday." He continued quickly. "I was looking for something that you'd like and I found this..." He waited until it was opened. "I read a few of them myself and it's actually really interesting, it's a muggle book so I wasn't sure if you had read it or not but apparently it's pretty popular here... if you already have it I can find something else."
