Anna tipped her head towards his hand, smiling slightly as she did. "Then it's some God-like being that enjoys playing with us," she said after a moment. "I'm not sure I like that idea anymore than I do that it's the city."
Somewhere in the back of her mind, she had the thought that if it was THEIR realities, then it wouldn't be difficult because it wouldn't be happening at all. She promptly told the thought to shut it, because there were so many things wrong with that idea she didn't know where to start.
Besides, she actually liked the idea of it being some. . .entity toying with them less than she did the city. It was easy to cuss at the city when something went wrong. Easy to be mad at it but accept that you can't do anything about it. Thinking that it was something alive and tangible made her feel not only angry but helpless. Not about it bringing them there per se, but because it went out of it's way to harass them now that it had them there.
It also occurred to her that the lessened amount of coffee in her diet these days meant that she was getting moody and cranky easier than before. And maybe she shouldn't mention being worried anymore since everyone apparently interpreted her being worried about the city -- or whatever it was -- being an asshole as her not wanting the baby at all.
Which was NOT what she wanted. She just wanted the baby to be safe and she wanted at least one person to acknowledge that it was going to be difficult to do that here. This was not a being that was going to be able to just fight back. Grace or no grace.
Then again, if the baby was raised in this atmosphere, none of it would seem strange to him or her. He or she could end up the most stable of anyone there for all they knew.
Anna let out a soft breath because she felt like crying for a moment and that was just stupid as well. She sincerely hoped that the hormones calmed down soon because this was going to get old nine months in.
"My BIGGEST fear is that one of us will get sent away after the fact," she said slowly. "Like whatever it is that has us trapped here will start paying closer attention, realize that people here aren't miserable like it wants and will decide to break us all up."
That was a fear that was always there, though. Baby or no baby. It just wasn't a thing that you could get used to.
She leaned forward to kiss the top of his head. "Cas, you will be an amazing parent. We both will." She moved her head down to where she was resting her forehead against his. "That much I am absolutely positive of. We will be brilliant with a baby. Not to mention, the kid's going to have so many weird aunts and uncles it's going to be crazy."
She hesitated for a moment. "We need to teach Abra that there are only certain types of bottles the baby can have. Otherwise we might wake up one day to find a bottle of vodka in the crib." Which would be funny but then Abra might replace a baby bottle with a beer bottle.
"I don't want to have a future alcoholic on our hands."
