When he had first received news that he would soon be a father, Cas had been surprisingly overjoyed, for lack of a better term. It was not something he'd previously believed possible and if asked over whether or not he'd ever considered attempting to conceive with Anna, the answer would have been no. He loved Anna. More than he had anyone or anything in his existence, but the fact of the matter remained that angels were technically not meant to reproduce.
And while his excitement had not been dampened, he could see that there were many things Anna was not telling him. She was concerned and he supposed that that was understandable. Yet there were other things he could not see her reluctance towards. After having been beings that were made primarily for destruction, they had inadvertently created a life. An innocent. To him, that was perhaps a larger miracle for them than it was for any other pair of humans. And while the city itself was not exactly ideal or what one would consider safe, he felt the same could be said of their own reality.
Not knowing how to address it or what to say in order to comfort her was frustrating, Mostly, he tried not to think about it. This was meant to be a joyous occasion and for humans, a romantic holiday. He wasn't certain what that could entail outside of perhaps a date and sex, but he was looking to do his best. Anna deserved better than that.
Helping her onto the table, he found one of the paper sheets and put it over her. Last time, Dr. Grey had requested she remove everything from the waist down. Figuring this time would be no different, he felt it would be best to be prepared. "I will admit, I'm not quite adept at identifying facial expressions," he said. "But I know when there is concern in yours. Do you wish to address it?"
