Sam's brow furrowed thoughtfully. "So we'll be exorcising it from them," he said, more thinking aloud than anything else. "Might not work if we're too far away from them, then. Might be easiest to just form as much of a barrier as we can, keep them at a distance with lights and shotguns, and I'll get the exorcism done." He gave a slight smile. "Thankfully, I can shoot and talk at the same time."
That was precisely why he'd started memorizing exorcisms in the first place; if he had to be reading from a book, his hands couldn't be doing something more useful, to fight. That wasn't necessary when there was a devil's trap involved, but there was no such thing here. "If the exorcism doesn't send it back to hell, or wherever it came from, then we'll just need to trap it. I've got a summoning spell ready, if we need that. Best we get it done pretty quickly, because exorcisms tend to make these things angry, too."
He set the lamp down, and reached into his bag for the flares and flashlights he'd brought. "Let's get started. The sooner you're rid of this thing, the better."
