WHO: Jamie Potter
WHEN: Wednesday Evening
WHERE: Wandering through the city, not too far from her apartment.
WHAT: Finding a paper rose
WARNINGS: None
It was the balmy kind of night that made you want to go outside and spend a few hours doing nothing. There had been several times in Jamie's life where she'd done the very same thing, simply wandered a street for no reason, just because it felt nice to do so when the weather was kind enough to permit it. Though right now she felt like she was as far away from home as she'd ever been in her entire life, there was something about this night that recalled the precious, shortly leased days that were granted to her when she was living at school and on her own as an adult. It was a note of comfort... When everything else seemed to be taken from her completely.
Sometimes she still hoped that she'd awaken from this mess of a dream and find Lily there, waiting for her in their flat and asking her where she'd been all this time.
Lost, she'd answer. But found again.
Though the weather had warmed from the chill of the snow and winter, there was still a soft wind blowing through the air that she could feel through the thin sweater she'd brought with her. On other nights she might have minded it, but the fresh change of air was welcomed to blow around her. She didn't know the wind would bring her a gift that night. If she hadn't stopped to admire a building's architecture, she wouldn't have felt the paper blowing over her foot. Her eyes turned down to see what'd brushed against her ankle and she was surprised to see what she did; a paper rose, looking like it'd been crushed under someone's careless foot and released from its stem. If she hadn't already heard so much about the flowers, she might have left it alone, but Jamie was more than curious about them at this point... She just didn't know where to find them. There were rumours that each of them were unique to every person that picked them up and unfolded their origami-like folding. So many people were delightfully surprised by the gift they received with each rose but Jamie, on the other hand, knew exactly what she would unfold.
As it always had, the sight of the shining red hair made her smile and the emerald eyes that stared up at her were exactly the pair that she'd so sorely missed. Jamie smiled and stared hungrily at the photo for what felt like hours... In the end, she delicately folded up her page and slipped it safely into her pocket.
"I knew you'd find me here..." She whispered to herself before she turned around on the street and walked home.
