Who: Everyone!
What: Party/ Morale boost attempt
Where: Stark Tower
When: BACKDATED: Sunday Night
Rating: TBD
Progress: Open/Ongoing

Unlike the previous parties at Stark Tower, this one was noticeably less extravagant. For the night the security of the elevator has been removed, allowing partygoers to enter only the first floor of the tower. The entire level is decorated with simple red and gold lights, the atmosphere more like that of a lounge than an actual party. There is an ample amount of seating, from tables and chairs to plush couches and love seats. Unlike the previous Stark extravaganza, there are no waiters or servers walking around to serve drinks, but on the far wall is an open bar with an automated dispensing system in placement of a bartender. On the opposite wall are tables and booths for more private conversations, and the dress is casual. The event, in all, is much more intimate and 'cozy' than previous Stark gatherings.

(Please put the rating and status (open/closed and those involved) of your thread in the heading. Thanks!)

"I wasn't comfortable around other doctors when I was back home let alone here." She cracked a smile, but her attention suddenly perked when he mentioned his teammate. "Doctor Banner, you mean! Yes, I've met him. He's a good man." She paused. "And he wasn't nearly as green as I thought he would be but I suppose that's a good thing."

She listened closely as he explained himself, and at his question, she spoke before thinking. "Yeah, it was bloody brilliant, special effects were amazing and the explosions-" Her eyes widened, suddenly, and a hand was brought to her mouth to silence herself before removed to unleash a quick rant of apology. "I-I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it like that, it must have been very- I couldn't imagine. ...Well, I could, I could imagine, that's why I'm so sorry, I didn't mean that your life was entertaining, or entertainment, I just meant that it was an impressive film because you're an impressive group of people-"

She stopped suddenly, her face stricken with embarrassment before she finally set her drink down. She had enough of those for tonight. "...I'm sorry." She spoke calmly now. "That was... wrong of me and I don't know what I was thinking. ...Yes, I saw the movie, and your team was very impressive in it. ...And I'm sorry it happened to all of you." She added the last part on weakly, lamely, with the sudden urge to curl up under the chair she sat in and hide until he left. Because apparently, talking to normal people after living with Sherlock Holmes was much more complicated than she originally thought. To be fair though, he was a god damned superhero.

"...I was shot once."

Her face was burning now. "Just... you know, now you know something about me that I don't like talking about either. So... okay, we're not even, but it's a start? Can you please stop me from talking because this really is getting worse with every passing second and I don't seem to know how to stop it."

"Doctor Banner is a good man," Steve said and grinned when she mentioned that he wasn't very green. "That's a very good thing, and he does try to keep it to a minimum." It wasn't that the other guy wasn't needed or wasn't useful, but it was clear that the good doctor wasn't trying to enjoy his company all that much, and that was something the soldier could understand.

At the mention of the movies and her excitement about them he looked down, the smile fading to something smaller but not uncomfortable. People seemed to have loved the movies, and one day he'd have to resolve to sit down to watch them. One day, but probably not this one. "Doctor, it's okay. It's our lives, yes, but some of us led very public lives before then. Tony loves the attention, and I got used to it during the USO tours. Some of us were known to others through books, television, or movies. Your name is similar to one from books too, and I wouldn't be surprised if they asked you about it." The stories were classic literature and popular even in his day, but he couldn't say that he'd spent a great deal of time reading them all. His interests ran toward the more... tactical and strategic sort of reading.

She rambled though, and it amused him until she confessed a secret of sorts, and for that he felt bad. "Ma'am, you didn't have to tell me that," he offered softly, hoping to reassure her. "I won't ask you about it. You'll get used to us in time, we're not all bad people. It's an interesting group, but you're safe around these people. You might not get alone with other doctors, but you were a soldier once. We can always use more of those too."
