Inwardly, Castiel cringed in sympathy at the mention of Steve's back being broken. The damaged discs in his back caused him enough aggravation and to think of it truly breaking was something he was not enthused to comprehend. The fact that his friend had undertaken such a pain was upsetting, regardless of the risks he'd accepted. He took another sip of his beer and tried to play the events over in his mind, though he'd only borne witness to a small percentage of what Steve was describing. "To help win the battle?" he asked frowning. "This is...very unexpected. More so than I had anticipated, though the fact that she did so without being prompted raises many questions. As for whether or not she was fully demon, that is difficult to say. If she was, I could not detect it, but in that case, Anna would be the angel to ask."
Her actions were more characteristic of another angel he knew, though he doubted Meg and Gabriel had anything to do with one another. Point in fact, his brother had been strangely quiet as of late and Meg had always been known to have something of an attitude for lack of a better term. Though from what he could tell, Steve exhibited no symptoms or abnormalities that he could sense. Steve was very old in comparison to the average human - his enhancements potentially were responsible for the discrepancy in the timeline, but he had yet to ask. It had not been of any import to do so yet. As for any...'otherness,' there was none to be found as of yet.
"However, I can tell you that from where I'm standing, I can detect nothing objectionable," he said, taking another sip of his beer. "Your soul is still intact. It is...faint now, but that is due to my Grace being all but gone. Were there any demonic discrepancies, they would still be visible to me."
Cas doubted it was something as simple as redemption or having rebelled from one's natural sensibilities. It was possible, considering the first Meg encountered in this realm, but his limited knowledge of her caused him to doubt any theory at least somewhat. "If you were not the only case, I suggest we speak with them as soon as possible."
