Nathan checked her for all the signs. Speech was slurred, but at a wedding, that was to be expected. She still seemed coherent and wasn't falling out of her chair - he hadn't actually been at the Halloween party, but he'd heard things, so whether she liked it or not, he'd designated himself her co-pilot or something like that. The last thing she wanted to be doing was throwing up somewhere in the woods. And if he stayed sober longer than her, that wouldn't be the case.
"On a scale from one to ten, how drunk are you?" he asked casually. "Not something I'd usually ask, but I haven't heard a 'seriously' in about an hour."
He actually wanted to ask if she were okay, but he knew better than to go there. She'd play the 'fine' card and if there was anything he was sick of, it was the fine card unless it pertained to him.
