Adults wore dresses when they went to big weddings. Meredith liked to remind herself that most of the time, she was an adult and for the first time since Zola's first birthday, she was wearing a dress. This wasn't a tequila dress. At weddings, there were also a few simple adult rules to follow - don't drink too much. Don't talk too loud, and don't say anything about the bridesmaids' dresses. Seeing as there wasn't anything to say about them here, Meredith felt like she was safe. She hated big weddings and yet there she was. At a big wedding, with Anna in a big dress, and a yellow paw trying for her wine glass.
She'd only just thought about being an immature tequila-drinking whore and there was already a psychic fox with hands wanting to steal her drink before she even left the bar.
"You could do that, but I'll have to make you pay for it," she said, without even looking at Abra.
She also realized she was using the mom voice - the mom voice didn't have a place at an adult big wedding. That was something totally reserved for toddlers who kept pulling hair because it was shiny or fighting her on getting dressed in the morning. Not something she'd had to deal with and suddenly she needed a sip of wine, just as the yellow paw receded. Out of the corner of her eye, Meredith noticed it steal someone's brandy instead and as soon as the glass disappeared, there was a distinct 'yuck' snort and the shattering of glass.
At least it was one of Cas and Anna's parties now.
