As Tim filtered out of class and into the busy hallway of Gotham University, he realized he could barely recount any of the lecture that he had just sat through for an hour. And that he had to think about what class it had actually been. There was a time in his life when he would never miss a beat in school, but lately he felt as though he was simply putting his time in toward an eventual degree and some sort of cushy job on the end that would act as little more than a cover for his real occupation.
That of a vigilante defender of Gotham.
It had not exactly been his idea, this life that was now his. Because even though he had looked up to and admired the Batman since he was young he had never really considered the possibility of following in his footsteps outside of old childhood fantasies. And yet with Bruce having become more and more of a recluse of late, that was exactly what he was doing, picking up the slack of the absent Batman and then some. It only further complicated matters that Dick had gone off on his own during all of this as well, leaving only Cassie to help shoulder the burden. Which she did quite well all things considered, but even so Tim knew they were spread way too thin. And that ultimately the absence of the Dark Knight himself was having an effect on the crime rate, no matter how hard he and Cassie tried to stem it.
All of which amounted to Tim being able to focus on little else but his night life, even in his waking hours. Even now, with his book bag over one shoulder, and his head bowed as he contemplated all of this he was aloof enough to accidentally walk right into one of his fellow university students.
"Oh.. hey, I'm sorry", Tim said quickly as he looked up, recognizing the student before him from around campus.
