Who: Ev Crawford and Batgirl Where: An alley somewhere near Crime Alley. When: June 2009. What: Batgirl stops a crime. Rating: R, just in case. Status: In Progress.
Four months. Four months she had been in Blackgate and four months Ev had kept her head down and suffered in silence. She had been released a mere two days ago but the habits she had developed in prison remained. The paranoia that someone was out to get her and that behind every turn, someone was watching her every move and reporting back to the Rileys.
It still felt weird, walking unsupervised on the streets alone. For the longest time, she had nursed the fear of being locked up in prison forever or that Uncle Earl's fate awaited her at Sean Riley's whim.
She was still wearing the same jacket she had worn four months ago but everything else were recent purchases from the nearest supermarket. Ev didn't know what had possessed the man to attack her but he had to be regretting it now. His movements were sluggish and he telegraphed his actions. It didn't take much effort for Ev to disarm him and pin him to the wall of the alley, out of view.
He was a wiry thing and Ev pinned him easily with her elbow in his back and a knee against the crook of his own. "You can't get me this easily, dumb ass." Ev whispered and slammed the man's head against the wall. "If he wants to kill me, he can do it himself."
"I don't know what you're talking about! I'm sorry!" the man protested and struggled against her. "STOP LYING!" Ev roared back and shoved him to the ground. "I won't be pushed around like this again."
