She could feel the hurt radiating off of him, but decided not to comment about it. She didn't want to make him any more uncomfortable than he already was. A part of her wanted to hug him, tell him it would get better, but she refrained. After all, he had to maintain his dignity.
"I'll call you next week," she said reassuringly and then watched him leave. She finished her own glass and then casually made her way to the door. She'd had quite enough of the crowd.
