Re: The Balcony Overlooking the Ballroom: Dick and Lizzy
Dick smiled and waved at the overly friendly attention he was getting from some of the attending society girls. He used to enjoy that attention - hell, honestly, he still did - but after almost an hour of hand-shaking and dodging a few handsy customers, he risked pulling a disappearing act.
Moments later he was on the other side of the room, and walking up to Liz from the side. Anne Boleyn, the very proper protestant wife to his Henry, stood admiring her work for the evening. That was when he decided to give her a very improper hello, hand clapping her behind lightly, then turning her to him and planting a kiss on her lips and dipping her low.
He could practically hear the pretty frowns fill the room. It was okay. This was his first event with Liz. In society circles, it was practically a declaration of intent. The kiss just sealed the deal.
Dick lingered, actually taking a moment to enjoy it for himself. Pulling her back up, he gave Liz his trademark grin, one that had gotten him out of a few tight situations when he had to explain away his mysterious disappearances and failures to show up for a number of dates.
"You look magnificent, my queen." Sure, he laid it on thick, but it wasn't just for her ears. The crowd was expecting a show. Him romancing his long-time girlfriend was just an added bonus. "What do you say we should do with the protestors?" He waved his hand out at the attendees, in a lazy fashion.
