One curious thing about Cass' stretches was that while they were comprehensive, they weren't forceful. They were slow, patient extensions that allowed the body to stretch itself.
But it tended to take people a while to get used to stretching in a way that didn't strain the body.
Such seemed to be the case with Lizzy. When Cass asked her to hold out her arm, she felt tension in Lizzy's joints and muscles. "Make fist," she instructed. "Then relax."
There was still tension. "All body ... connected.When you ... clench fist, arm clenches, shoulder clenches. Stance. Breathing. All tense. No flow."
Cass made a show of breathing in a way that relaxed her whole body. "When you relax, breathe better. Move better. Less force. More power. More flow. You try."
