Character Think Tank.
Since SoC is like character creation crack, I thought I'd be an enabler (or be enabled!) and post some character ideas that I'm kicking around, but am not sure on. If you're in a similar situation, with a character half-formed but unwilling to give you the full story, post and we'll muddle through being shameful RP addicts together.
Dam Lady. It's a regular sausagefest at the dam! I had an idea of a young female psychic that I'm not totally sold on yet. She has absolutley zero control over it and it comes over her almost at random - generally, she only sees things that are going to happen to her (ie she'd only see a fight if she was potentially going to be there to witness it) - but if she makes physical contact with someone, she has a pretty high chance of seeing a glimpse of something in their future. Side effect of this ability is that for every vision, she's rendered blind for a period of time, usually thirty minutes to an hour depending on the strength of the vision (ie more amorphous uncertain visions aren't as crippling as intense, definitely-happening visions). I imagine her to be a relativley strung out young lady torn between really wanting to be around people but being overwhelmed by being struck with uncomfortable and unsolicited personal information. And even though it sort of negates the whole 'chicks at the dam' idea, I can also see her being stuck/discovered by the vampires (perhaps this ability is a very recent manifestation) and possibly have the shit exploited out of her (used for breeding, given to the Prince as a gift, etc etc). Obviously at the dam she'd be a bit more lighthearted, and in Vegas it'd be pretty dire, but if she doesn't quite fit at the dam I'd be happy to go either way. PB Saoirse Ronan most likely.
Gladiator lycan! I have this old journal with FLEA as PB, and was thinking of bringing him in as a fun party-dude lycan (not sure what animal, probably wolf because I am so a dog person, but open to suggestions) who's a rising star in the arena. Would love to have some fellow gladiators, and maybe he has a human fetish and nabs a slave at the markets? It's more of a brief concept, so I'm not sure if he's worth bringing in, but I love Flea's goofy face so there you go.
Jack the Ripper. I'm not sure why I have so many dude character ideas. It's an illness? I have a character I've played in PSLs named Matthew Cromwell, a dude turned in the 1800s, his vampire lover saving him from dying of TB. The catch? Cromwell used to be Jack the Ripper, and every few decades, his old habits crop up. He might be more of an NPC/plot-devicey sort of chap, but he's very well behaved so long as he isn't triggered into murdering female prostitutes. :V He's also something of a misogynist and finds women detestable, so he'd likely be a complete dick even to female vampires. To be honest after writing this I don't know if he'd be a good fit for the game (he keeps his Ripping days secret for obvious reasons) since he's more of a PSL type character given his Gary Stu-y past, but if the mods want to use him by all means, lol! I'll just lock him back up in the vault. PB who the fuck knows, some British guy, Ian McShane maybe?
Simon Says. This is another more vague character idea since I tend to think like a DM sometime and generate NPCs that PC has no business playing. :P But Simon would be a vampire from another city in the US that's doing well. Maybe in the middle of nowhere Kansas or post-apocalyptic-before-the-apocalype Detroit, Michigan? Wherever he's from, Simon is a human trafficker and it looking to make a deal in Vegas. He'd be pretty old, not a rival to the Sanguine or Damien (obviously), but up there in his own right. He's also a schemer and a manipulator and probably try to get into the good books so he can get a better deal on stock. Again, sort of a sketchy concept, but throwing it out there anyway. PB Peter Stormare for used car salesman creepiness or Timothy Olyphant for licking... ness.
Overall, I'd really like to play the psychic and the gladiator, while the other two are probably, honestly, best left to Mod plots or in my PSL bin. What do you all think?
