Who: George and Charlie Weasley What: A run in outside of WWW Where: Diagon Alley When: Sunday Morning
Sunday’s were always a busy day in Diagon Alley, especially as Christmas quickly approached. The shop was picking up too, business wasn’t back to the numbers they’d had before going on the run, but they were steadily climbing. It was to be expected, especially since both of the twins had fallen ill shortly after their grand opening. But George was in a good mood nonetheless, it was hard not to when he got to wake up next to Penny every morning, but he was feeling well and had a few treats to demonstrate that morning.
Well, he had two products he was demonstrating, but one was kept close to the vest. Outside the store, George had set up a colorful display of magically wrapped Christmas crackers, enchanted to do all sorts of things. The ones in gold wrappers sprayed silly string at the loser, and the bright red ones had little christmas elves charmed to sing and dance inside. There was a large variety, something that they’d dreamed up forever ago, and had started fiddling with long before they’d closed their shop for the years on the run.
The other product, that he hadn’t told anyone about truly, was the prosthetic ear he was sporting. He’d waited until Penelope had gone to work that morning before positioning it, and using the spell that would allow him to hear out of it. Sure, Fred knew that he’d been working on it, but he hadn’t told anyone that it was ready for testing. He didn’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, his were already high enough, and there was a high likelihood that this wouldn’t work well enough to help his hearing loss anyway. But, if things went well, maybe he wouldn’t have to be referred to as the twin with the whole in his head anymore. And there was no pressure, because George had proudly made it real enough that anyone who didn’t know him personally, wouldn’t realize he was using a fake ear.
There was one downside though, when a family with a group of screaming children ran passed him into the store, and the sudden burst of loudness that a deafened George had been accustomed to felt like it threatened to burst his ear. He stumbled back, a knee jerk reaction to escape the noise, and bumping into a person who was passing on the street behind him.
“Oh, uh, sorry!” He said righting himself and straightening his magenta robes, a hand went through his hair, as the ringing in his fake ear started to subside, something he’d certainly have to tinker with later. “Oh! Hey Charlie!”
