Standing in the bathroom attached to Max's bedroom, Ivy held the three vials in her hand. She was either going to escape Max's relentless abuse or she was going to die from it. But, if death was her fate then it was going to be of her own making, not his. She couldn't allow him to control her destiny, not any longer. Ivy had sacrificed every ounce of herself for her sister and would never regret her choices, but it was time to reclaim her life. It was time to go home.
Removing the corks, Ivy drank back the vials in quick succession, not allowing herself any more time to think about the dozens of possible outcomes. Destiny owned her a win, she decided. This was going to work because she needed it to work. She needed a win. With one last look in the mirror, Ivy turned and walked back to the bedroom where Max was waiting for her.
"I remember Fred Weasley," she lied to him. "I remember loving him, being with him, hating you. I remember that this isn't the life I want, that I don't want you. You're nothing to me and I will find some way to kill you. Because you can never make me love you, not when someone else already has my heart."
Max was enraged. He tore from the bed and within seconds, Ivy felt his hands around her neck. She didn't know how long his assault went on. It felt like hours, really, but it could have been ten minutes. Each blow of his fists sent her further into the darkness. Her eyes became heavy and her heart slowed. Ivy couldn't move, couldn't begin to fight him off. Finally, with a hard punch to the side of her head, Ivy collapsed on Max's floor. And there she laid.. unmoving. Unbreathing. The potions had done their work and Ivy Montgomery was dead.
... Or was she?
Too smug in his victory and too petty to double check, Max levitated Ivy's battered body through the streets of Tinworth to the edge of the wards. Apparating them to Diagon Alley, Max wasted no time to dumping her body on the front steps of Fred's shop before spitting on her and giving her a final kick to the stomach. He left as quickly as he came and there Ivy remained, motionless.
