Extracting himself from his fort of blankets, pillows, hot tea and chocolate biscuits had been very difficult that morning, but something had to give. Kevin could still feel traces of his nightmare niggling the back of his neck every night before he fell asleep, and every morning when he woke up again. He needed to get out, to get walking, and feel fresh hair ruffle through his hair and filter through his lungs. Maybe it would help shift some of the lingering cold that still chilled his bones.
Victoria Park was a short walk away from his flat. He bundled himself up in an extra jumper and a coat on top of that, and shoved his hands into his pockets as he set out with his head tilted upwards so he could feel that breeze. It was strange - summer had seemingly come to an abrupt end at the beginning of September, and now all the trees, which were once green and lush and full of life, were turning brittle and losing their darker leaves.
He liked Autumn though, despite his hatred of the cold. It was preparations for new beginnings - something that the world needed.
