While Cassius hadn't been particularly fond of McGonagall, he and his wife had decided to come to support friends and the Ministry who had been fond of the old witch. He was careful not to express the fact that she hadn't been his favorite teacher. While Evie was speaking with friends of hers, Cassius decided to sneak off to where the other husbands were gathering, smoking and talking among themselves.
While he had officially quit smoking sometime before his marriage to Evangeline, he occasionally would light up a smoke with friends, or after sex, or after a long day. It wasn't habitual, but it was often enough that the official quit date was for Evangeline only.
He saddled up to a young man who looked vaguely familiar. Maybe he had been a year or two younger; same house or different house, Cassius couldn't recall. "The Mrs. not like it when you smoke either?" He tried for casual, lighting his cigarette with the tip of his wand.
